Primary Purpose of the Position:
This is an essential senior staff position responsible for directing a team of 8 specialists that provide curatorial and programmatic support services to all sites in the areas of collections management, education, exhibits, multi-cultural initiatives, research, publications, and audio-visual production.
Key Responsibilities:
  • This position communicates regularly with sites staff and other Division specialists to assess and address curatorial needs/issues statewide.
  • The position also makes presentations to professional and community organizations to promote the Division and its programs.
  • Provides technical assistance to sites, oversees the development of innovative statewide programming, directs digital engagement, and supervises the Division’s training programs.
  • The position establishes and evaluates section goals and priorities, prepares and administers budgets, manages and evaluates staff, develops site interpretive plans, and assists in overall site development.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Master's degree in history, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field and five years of progressive experience in a historical agency.


OR

Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in history or a closely related field and six years of progressive experience in a historical agency.
OR

An equivalent combination of training and experience
