Job Description
Overview The Director of Business Development reports to the President and is responsible for the development of corporate strategic plans, leading, supervising a staff, and executing business development efforts resulting in corporate growth of an 8a, small disadvantaged business, Alaskan Native firm. This individual has the responsibility and authority to carry out assigned tasks. Responsibilities Develop and execute business strategies by way of thorough analysis and identification of market trends and opportunities that drive company growth Lead a team and personally execute business development initiatives including pursuit of organic and new growth initiatives Recruit and hire new staff to build a highly effective team Coach team members to set accountability goals while providing appropriate feedback, rewards, and recognition Build a team and develop processes and procedures tailored to this company to effectively evaluate and qualify opportunities, and to capture valid pursuits. In support of the President analyze, identify opportunities, and lead the necessary coordination for teaming, joint ventures, and mentor protégé relationships with value-added industry partners Analyze current corporate capabilities, programs, products, and technology initiatives and recommend changes to optimize performance Assist in developing holistic corporate strategies and be prepared to manage activities necessary to facilitate mergers, acquisitions, and new company formations. Assess the performance of corporate growth staff and coach functional staff in pursuit and development of organic business Identify, resource, and manage the tools, databases, and processes required to support a team in pursuit of company growth. Travel when necessary and fully utilize virtual teaming toolsets to execute the company plan for growth Minimum Skills and Competencies Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field required or equivalent years of experience may also be considered in lieu of a specific degree A skilled relationship manager with a well-developed network with an emphasis in the US Department of Defense, Foreign Military Sales, and other Government Agencies. 15+ years of related industry or military experience demonstrating knowledge of the procedures and regulations inherent in doing business with the DoD and other Federal Agencies Proven win record by building pipelines that result in greater than $50M in new business revenue per year Proficiency in MS Office applications including; Outlook, MS Word, Project, PowerPoint, and Excel required. Must be an effective communicator who promotes a strong corporate culture through written and verbal communications; e xcellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills are required. Must be able to multitask and work successfully in a rapidly changing environment. Must be a self-starter and self-directed. Working knowledge of FAR, DFAR, and FMS. Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to high-quality work and strong follow-up skills. Ability to prioritize daily workload, act proactively, and respond to requests promptly. Desired Experience Former senior military acquisitions officer, or experienced senior manager/director level industry member with experience in business growth with customers from Army and/or Airforce, Aviation, Special Operations, and other Governmental Agencies involved with paramilitary requirements Experience in developing, leading, and executing corporate strategy for an Alaskan Native firm Experience working within a solutions-based engineering and manufacturing firm (this company is not a professional services or staff augmentation firm) Experience using One Team pipeline management tools ( ) Clearance Must be eligible for and able to maintain a Secret Clearance and preferred eligibility for a Top-Secret clearance.
