Department Summary

The University of Oregon Intercollegiate Athletic Department's primary purpose is to provide a unique opportunity for student-athletes to be developed, tested, and encouraged to reach their maximum potential in every aspect of their lives. It is the steadfast goal of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics to provide the most outstanding student-athlete experience by helping them to achieve excellence, both in the classroom and in their chosen sport. The department has approximately 250 administrative & classified employees and hosts over 600,000 spectators annually and represents the University of Oregon in athletic competition with other universities & colleges.

Position Summary

The purpose of this position is to serve as the University of Oregon Athletic Department’s point person for student-athletes seeking behavioral health assistance and provide one-on-one counseling. Deliver a discreet, professional, and confidential approach, completing triage and referring as appropriate. Manage all administrative tasks related to these services. Responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program, including adherence to all department policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the university, Pac-12 Conference, and the NCAA.

Minimum Requirements

  • Two years of crisis intervention experience and skills.
  • Two years of experience working with D-1 Collegiate Teams including football.
  • Two years of experience working with substance use disorders.
  • Two years of experience with mental health issues relevant to college populations.
  • Master’s degree in counseling, couples, and family therapy, or social work, or doctorate in counseling or clinical psychology. Applicants with master’s degrees must be currently licensed and able to obtain Oregon licensure within six months of hire. Applicants with doctorates must be licensed in Oregon within two years of the start date.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five years of experience in a behavioral health administrative role.
  • Five years of experience supervising behavioral health therapists.
  • Experience working with Division I student-athletes and teams.
  • Five years of providing behavioral health services.
  • Experience working with substance use disorders.
