EXEMPT
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Knowledge of federal laws, state board policy, and local board policy
  • Appropriate North Carolina Supervisory Certifications
  • Minimum of five (5) years of teaching, supervisory, or administrative experience
  • Experience implementing the North Carolina Standard Course of Study
  • Ability to provide Instructional Coach support
  • Experience establishing and maintaining effective and collaborative working relationships with parents, students, teachers, staff, administrators, and community
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor local implementation of state initiatives
  • Ability to communicate effectively to a variety of stakeholders; including formal presentations and written correspondence
  • Experience with blended learning models of instruction and learning management systems; particularly with the Canvas Learning Management System
  • Master's degree from an approved education program required
  • Experience implementing Remediation Plans; particularly with high school credit recovery
  • Experience implementing School Improvement Plans
  • Ability to collaborate with a variety of departments and stakeholders in the development of instructional initiatives
  • Work experience in curriculum development, training, and implementation preferred
  • Meets minimum State licensure requirements for School Administrator or Curriculum-Instructional Specialist
Duties
  • Coordinates all LCS online learning courses; including NCVPS and locally developed Canvas courses
  • Coordinates training and development of the Canvas Learning Management System; including the supervision of online teachers and student registration for online courses
  • Organize and facilitate curriculum development as part of a Curriculum Professional Learning Community with an emphasis on Social Studies and/or Math
  • Participates in instructional audits; including classroom walk-throughs, instructional rounds, and collaborative teams (PLCs)
  • Manages research based pilot programs, including project based learning initiatives and experiential learning, across the district
  • Monitor the implementation of the Standard Course of Study and provide leadership in current educational initiatives at the state and national level
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Work with school sites in assisting Instructional Coaches in their professional growth and development
  • Creates and directs tutoring initiatives and student mentoring initiatives at the district level for school level implementation
  • Must be able to perform heavy work exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of forces frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift objects
  • The Director of Digital Learning and Academic Recovery has the following responsibility as assigned by the Chief Academic Officer including but not limited to:
  • Represents the district at regional job-alike meetings as assigned
  • Coordinates the implementation and monitoring of the Advanced Placement Program (and related College Board initiatives) at the high school level
  • Work with teachers, administrators and central office personnel in helping to analyze a variety of data; serves as a knowledgeable resource in the area of changing assessment techniques particularly as it relates to Competency Based Education and the NC Portrait of a Graduate
  • Create, organize, and evaluate curriculum development and assist in evaluating, selecting, and using instructional resources and technology
  • Facilitate the creation and implementation of academic recovery and enrichment programs; including credit recovery, remediation plans, tutoring services, differentiated diplomas, and postsecondary transitions
  • Create, organize, and evaluate curriculum development and assist in creating instructional tools, templates, and modules for the implementation of the curriculum
  • Monitors the district-wide implementation of the ACT/SAT/AP testing program
