Job Description
SUMMARY:


The Director, Manufacturing provides overall leadership and Supply Chain management for functions related to the Indianapolis manufacturing facility. This includes, but is not limited to, oversight of Production Operations, Warehousing, Logistics, and Maintenance/Engineering of the facility. The Director analyzes production data to evaluate and improve workflows for process efficiency improvement. In addition, the Director works to grow overall team development through Managers by coaching on associate development, planning, execution, urgency, and accountability. This role also has ownership of operational efficiency improvements through process improvements, personnel growth, and both capital and non-capital project execution.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Establish leadership and set strategic direction for the Indianapolis team. Inherent in this is the establishment of Indianapolis’s vision to assure consistency with corporate direction while nurturing the facility’s culture to achieve Indianapolis’s goals
  • Development and implementation of the Indianapolis Capital Plan through internal facility consensus and alignment with the corporate Engineering team for operational and infrastructure improvement
  • Financial accountability for all operations at the Indianapolis facility, including variable and period budgets
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders for the creation of visibility, collaboration, and optimization of operational training and development plans
  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned according to specific requirements
  • Train Managers, Supervisors, and future leaders in employee development and growth to continually improve morale towards a “can-do” and “winning” mindset of teammates
  • Provide leadership and facilitation of cross-functional process improvement events, ensuring a systematic approach can be followed
  • Ensures all guidelines of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), FDA/USDA standards, the Environmental Control Act, and OSHA standards proactively maintain compliance. Leads health, safety, sanitation, and environmental processes for the location
  • Implementation of Microsoft ERP system integration, ensuring all responsible personnel are properly trained to execute with excellence
  • Provides effective labor relations within the operational unit, working with the People & Culture Team to ensure employment practices are fair and consistent
  • Coordination of promotions, trials, programs, and customer service compliance with Sales & Marketing teams
  • Successful operational execution to meet key performance indicators that are aligned with the corporate business matrix
  • Mention and train others towards a continuous improvement mindset to build local and regional resource capability
  • Ownership of costs and operational improvement plans for highest quality product at lowest possible cost
  • Oversee production schedule planning and execution to ensure customers’ needs are met through product availability


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Full facility oversight and leadership with potential direct reports including, but not limited to, Plant Manager, Production Manager, Logistics Manager, Controls/Engineering Manager, Maintenance Manager, and dotted line management of the Quality Assurance Manager.


Requirements


EDUCATION, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE:


Required:


  • 5+ years’ experience leading change through exhibiting integrity and ownership, team development, project/process implementation, and Lean practices
  • Experience in project management
  • Knowledge of accepted quality assurance procedures and guidelines
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to comfortable work and communicate with individuals at all levels within, and outside of, the organization
  • Decision-making skillset with an inherent ability to command, consult, gain consensus, and effectively delegate
  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent, with 5 to 7 years demonstrated managerial experience in a manufacturing environment


Preferred:


  • Ability to effect change through motivation and encouragement, resulting in positive results in a very small and dispersed organization
  • Experience with Microsoft ERP systems
  • Demonstration of self-management with integrity by being accountable, dependable, and responsible for attendance, actions, initiatives, and productivity standards
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), facilitation, presentation, coaching, and training skills
  • Flexible work schedule, to include off shifts, with ability to travel up to 10-20%
  • Ability to gather and analyze data and make quick timely decisions in response to data
  • Engineering and/or end-to-end capital and non-capital project management experience
  • Results-driven progressive management experience in a food/beverage production environment
  • Ability to understand and simplify complex processes to document and train-to accordingly
