Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW

This position is based in Roanoke, VA, and reports to the Vice President of NA Distribution. The Director is a member of the Distribution Leadership Team. This position has multi-site responsibility and will:

  • Direct all Industrial Engineering activities for the North American Distribution Centers.
  • Direct all Facilities Engineering activities for the Roanoke Logistics Centre.
  • Be a leader of the Lean Warehousing program in NA.
  • Leader of the Industrial Safety Program for the NA Distribution Centers.


MAJOR DUTIES

  • Prepares analyses and models for Distribution improvement projects.
  • Represents the site to the fire deptartment, insurance companies, OSHA, landlords, utility companies, security services and other external partners as needed.
  • Responsible for the preparation and management of the Facilities Engineering Operating Budget for Roanoke.
  • Analyzes workflows to maximize service and efficiency in Distribution.
  • Reviews, updates, and re-engineers existing Distribution conveyor network, picking bins, rack storage and facilities.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Coordinates facilities changes to accommodate safety initiatives.
  • Directs the assessment and analysis of key network/distribution operations improvements across the NA Distribution Sites. Ensures the distribution sites are equipped with the most cost-effective processes and equipment that is appropriate for their site.
  • Performs analysis and makes recommendations on insourcing vs outsourcing. Directs the RFP process for 3PL projects.
  • Independently works on projects or process improvements when tasked by upper management.
  • Has front-line leadership responsibility for Distribution Mechanics.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors the Lean Warehouse/5S program for NA Distribution across all sites.
  • Directs the activities of the Safety Dept. and Safety Program.
  • Responsible for the preparation and implementation of the Distribution Capital Budget.
  • Ensures the facilities are maintained in a safe, cost effective, and aesthetically pleasing manner.
  • Regularly visits Revlon NA locations and consults with Distribution site teams regarding network optimization, operations productivity, safety, and capacity strategies and tactics.
  • Directs and controls the selection, procurement, and installation of capital equipment for the Distribution Centers.
  • Manages the Powered Industrial Truck program. Monitors and optimizes leases for all PIT.

EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience managing hourly employees and engineers is required.
  • 10 years’ experience in Industrial or Facilities Engineering required. Preferably in a high-volume distribution operation in the consumer goods industry.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Must have related experience in distribution and industrial/facilities engineering. A strong background in indirect work measurement, financial analysis, and methods improvement is essential.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to apply engineering experience and expertise to an array of logistics issues.
  • Must be able to travel to all Revlon locations, suppliers, and contractors worldwide.
  • Knowledge of working with SAP and/or JDE systems is a plus.
  • Experience with developing and implementing Safety programs is required.
  • Communication: Keeps other informed before questions are asked, be proactive.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of internal and external customers worldwide.
  • Judgment: Demonstrates good judgment using quantitative/qualitative arguments; analytical reasoning, technical expertise, and an understanding of the audience.

  • Experience working with facilities systems (electrical, HVAC, security, fire protection and alarms, etc.) is required.
  • Experience with labor standards, Lean Warehousing concepts, and KPI development required.

EDUCATION

  • Master of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or Business, preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering discipline required, BSIE preferred.
