The Role:
Discipline Leader, Director of Human Experience Design
As the Director of Human Experience Design, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our clients' businesses by leveraging your expertise in human-centered design, user experience, and creative disciplines. You will be responsible for leading a team of talented experienced designers and creative professionals from various disciplines, collaborating closely with our clients to understand their unique challenges, design innovative solutions, and deliver impactful results. Your deep understanding of human behavior, design thinking principles, creative disciplines and emerging trends in the industry will be essential to drive change and improve the overall human experience for our clients and their customers.
Shape Opportunities and Deliver Excellence
- Partner with Strategy teams, providing a Studio perspective of go-to-market offerings and associated people, data, and technology strategy
- Provide sales engineering support for key activities, including solution definition, project estimating, proposal creation, and RFP responses
- Lead team formation with the right blend of skills and experience aligned to project objectives, as well as financial and operational metrics (GM and utilization)
- Serve as a trusted advisor to Account and Studio leadership for assigned projects, proactively highlighting project successes to replicate and challenges to address
- Understand Studio-wide delivery performance and aggregate feedback to proactively address themes and/or isolated escalations
- Own and/or advise on key project deliverables and serve as a resource to other team members
- Partner with Account teams to understand upcoming sales pipeline, business growth objectives, and demand for capacity within current capabilities or development of new capabilities
- Provide delivery leadership, supporting early phases of strategic engagements, resolving escalations (people or deliverable), conducting ongoing quality checks, and participating in client business reviews as appropriate
- Deliver excellence by contributing to project delivery in a leadership, individual, or team-based capacity
Develop Talent
- Create and manage a hiring plan aligned to client demand and core Launch solutions
- Drive Studio maturity through discipline leadership, case studies, delivery artifacts, and best practices
- Develop talent through effective people management and mentorship of 10-50 consultants and/or managers directly and indirectly
- Define the community framework for building culture, including desired outcomes (e.g., retention and sentiment), an engagement strategy, and a communication plan
- Lead execution of the mid-year and annual performance reviews within your organization
- Develop talent at scale through well-defined career model, mentorship opportunities, community engagement, discipline resources, and professional training and certifications plans
Build HXD Capabilities
- Develop methodologies for thorough research, including user interviews, focus groups, and surveys, to gather data and insights that inform the design process and creative decision-making
- Develop and lead workshops and training sessions to educate clients and internal teams on human-centered design methodologies, creative disciplines, and their combined impact on organizational transformation.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and foster a culture of innovation and excellence for a team of experience designers and creative professionals from various disciplines, such as graphic design, visual design, UX/UI design, copywriting, and multimedia production.
- Mature design thinking and human-centered design methodologies to uncover insights, ideate solutions, and create exceptional experiences for employees and customers, leveraging the diverse range of creative disciplines
- Ensure seamless integration of creative disciplines within the overall human experience design strategy, aligning visual identity, branding, storytelling, and user interfaces with the desired experience
- Oversee the creation of compelling visual designs, interactive experiences, multimedia content, and engaging copywriting that effectively communicate design concepts and evoke emotional responses
- Partner with clients to understand their business objectives, challenges, and opportunities, and develop tailored strategies to enhance their human experience through creative disciplines
- Monitor and measure the impact of implemented solutions, collecting feedback and refining designs and creative executions based on user insights and business outcomes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architecture, engineering, cloud, data & AI, cyber, and testing disciplines
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in both design and creative disciplines to continuously innovate and improve our approach
Lead a Healthy and Productive Organization
- Participate in industry forums and engage with higher education institutions
- Proactively manage Studio-wide utilization within defined targets, and ensure team productivity through billable assignments and prioritized internal initiatives
- Manage and model disciplines, capabilities, and associated utilization and profitability targets globally and within each geography
Required Qualifications
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and apply design principles and creative executions to address complex challenges Demonstrated experience formulating options and recommendations with consideration for individual, account, and company perspectives
- Proven experience (at least 8 years) in human experience design, user experience, creative disciplines, or a related field, preferably within a consulting or agency environment
- Deep expertise in human-centered design methodologies, design thinking principles, user research techniques, and creative disciplines such as graphic design, visual design, motion design, copywriting, and multimedia production
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Strong business acumen and the ability to understand and align creative disciplines with clients' strategic objectives
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- A passion for innovation, creativity, and staying ahead of emerging trends in design, technology, and creative disciplines
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Fine Arts, Communication, or a related field. A combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Miro, Sketch, InVision, design systems, and similar applications, as well as tools and software relevant to creative production
- Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and mentoring a team of designers and creative professionals from diverse disciplines, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas, design concepts, and creative strategies to clients and stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading global people and teams
- Experience managing billable utilization and P&L (profit and loss) in a service delivery environment
- SME/Expert-level client-facing delivery-based consulting experience
- Experience delivering complex projects and achieving measurable results through the integration of design with agile or product-centric delivery environments
