(Director) Head Of Assay Development And Innovation - Vaccine

The Head of Assay Development and Innovation (AD&I) directs a multi-functional platform consisting of several laboratory units that are part of Sanofi Vaccines R&D - Global Immunology. The platform is responsible for the development, qualification and validation of new immunological methodologies required to support Sanofi Vaccines clinical trials performed by R&D New Vaccines (NV) and by Global Medical Affairs (GMA). This position will report to the Head of Global Clinical Immunology at Swiftwater, PA.
Responsibilities Of The Head Of Assay Development And Innovation

• Expert in state of the art immune assessments for bacterial and viral targets
• Effectively supervise, train, motivate, and empower direct reports to perform assigned tasks while ensuring applicable compliance and regulatory agency standards are met
• Work closely with global project teams and immunology team leads
• Lead a team of PhD and Masters Scientists in the establishment and transfer of immune assays for downstream validation and testing.
• Serve as a representative on project, process, and investigation teams and responsible to plan, organize, and resource the platform appropriately
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and scientific rigor
• Harmonize and Liaise with upstream units of early stage immunology and clinical experimental immunology to ensure transition of analyses into the global clinical immunology assay portfolio.
• Drive continuous improvement and advancement of techniques and technologies for the assessment of novel vaccine candidates at Sanofi Vaccines R&D
• Build a culture that promotes Sanofi R&D vision through a positive work environment that is focused on execution, efficiency, innovation and quality
• Proven expertise in functional and ELISA-based serological analyses, cellular immunology (high dimensional flow cytometry) and the ability to efficiently transfer the analyses onto automated platforms
• Overall Organization of the AD&I team and driving the platform strategy to meet the Sanofi Vaccines R&D - Global Immunology priorities and objectives

Qualifications

• 10+ years experience as a research scientist in academia or industry
• PhD in Immunology or a related discipline
• Proven leadership and managerial experience in multi-functional and matrixed teams
• The ability to develop and maintain professional, trusting, positive working relationships with supervisors, staff, managers across the whole of Sanofi Vaccine R&D
• Experience in the development of new analytical characterization methods for biomolecules/vaccines. Familiar with a broad range of analytical instrumentation and techniques.
