The Role:
At Congo Brands we are committed to delivering the highest quality and safest products to our customers. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Director of Governance and Compliance for our Foods and Supplements organization. This leadership role will be responsible for overseeing our Quality Assurance program with third-party manufacturers, managing consumer complaints, ensuring compliance with food and supplement labeling regulations, and staying abreast of new legislation in the food and supplement industry.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain, improve, and oversee the Quality Assurance program for third-party manufacturers.
  • Collaborate with relevant teams to analyze complaint data, identify trends, and implement preventive measures.
  • Improve and manage a system for label review and approval.
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure ongoing compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Maintain supplier quality assurance systems, procedures, and specifications.
  • Lead the consumer complaint handling process, ensuring timely response and resolution.
  • Educate relevant stakeholders about new and upcoming regulations and their impact on our business.
  • Work closely with the product development and marketing teams to review and approve new/changing product labels.
  • Conduct and manage regular audits of third-party manufacturers and storage locations to ensure compliance with quality standards/GMP practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all Domestic/International food and supplement labeling regulations, including nutritional and allergen information.
  • Foster a consumer-centric culture and continuously improve the complaint management process.
  • Keep abreast of new legislation in the food and supplement industry.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Certified in Quality Assurance and Auditing is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in regulatory compliance, quality assurance, or a similar role within the food and supplement industry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of FDA, USDA, and other relevant food and supplement regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
