JOB DESCRIPTION


The Director, Income Tax Reporting and Analysis is a full-time employment position based in our Charlotte, NC corporate headquarters. The Director is an integral member of the worldwide JELD-WEN Tax Department who provides leadership and management of our income tax reporting, and forecasting for our global operations. The Director will work closely with, and report directly to, the Vice President – Global Tax while providing support to the JELD-WEN tax team worldwide.


Specific responsibilities include the following:


  • Oversee foreign income tax reporting including coordinate global outsource arrangement.
  • Work within the tax department as well as overall JELD-WEN organization to optimize tax profile/advantages of Company’s conversion to SAP S4/Hana.
  • Network and collaborate with worldwide finance organization to continually plan and improve the quarterly and annual reporting processes and implement any premised process improvements or processes.
  • Act as Tax Technology Champion driving forward the use of technology and evolving processes/procedures to reduce time and resources directly engaged in compliance activities allowing group to emphasize ongoing tax planning opportunities driving value for the organization.
  • Maintenance of SOX control compliance and pro-active input in design and implementation of changes to controls framework to drive optimization.
  • Manage and provide strategic oversight for federal, state, and local audits as they arise.
  • Drive the management and development of JELD-WEN’s worldwide tax department as a world class organization effective in demonstrating good faith reporting to all applicable jurisdictions while continuing to optimize the Company’s overall tax profile.
  • Promote and continue ongoing transition to OneSource suite of tax products
  • Involvement in our Corporate Enterprise Risk Management initiative to identify, monitor and manage risks worldwide from a tax perspective.
  • Identify process and efficiency improvement opportunities including but not limited to use of technology for data collection and analysis.
    • Act as Tax Technology Champion driving forward the use of technology and evolving processes/procedures to reduce time and resources directly engaged in compliance activities allowing group to emphasize ongoing tax planning opportunities driving value for the organization.
    • Promote and continue ongoing transition to OneSource suite of tax products
    • Work within the tax department as well as overall JELD-WEN organization to optimize tax profile/advantages of Company’s conversion to SAP S4/Hana.
  • Assist worldwide group in coordination and management of foreign audits.
  • Direct and manage the Company’s worldwide income tax provision process including:
    • Network and collaborate with worldwide finance organization to continually plan and improve the quarterly and annual reporting processes and implement any premised process improvements or processes.
    • Overall management of quarterly and annual reporting calculations and financial statement disclosures under ASC 740.
    • Oversight and augmentation of procedures around identification and documentation of necessary valuation allowances and/or uncertain tax positions worldwide.
    • Maintenance of SOX control compliance and pro-active input in design and implementation of changes to controls framework to drive optimization.
    • Monitor, analyze, and report changes to US and foreign tax laws and regulations to determine the financial statement impact.
    • Continue to drive efficiencies in the worldwide processes to reduce timelines while maintaining the reliability/integrity of work products.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with and, when necessary, provide support to other members of the finance and accounting department, legal department, etc.
  • Identification, development, and implementation of new planning ideas to continue to reduce the Company’s effective tax rate and/or cash tax burden.
  • Oversight and augmentation of procedures around identification and documentation of necessary valuation allowances and/or uncertain tax positions worldwide.
  • Oversee outsourced relationships involving sales, use, and property taxes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for the identification, development, and implementation of tax planning opportunities to continue to optimize both the Company’s worldwide effective tax rate and cash tax outlay.
    • Identification, development, and implementation of new planning ideas to continue to reduce the Company’s effective tax rate and/or cash tax burden.
    • Involvement in our Corporate Enterprise Risk Management initiative to identify, monitor and manage risks worldwide from a tax perspective.
  • State and local income tax compliance
  • US federal income tax compliance
  • Assist with planning, structuring and reporting of acquisitions and divestitures including, among other things, modeling of the tax implications of a transaction, financing, purchase accounting, and/or 338 elections.
  • Overall management of quarterly and annual reporting calculations and financial statement disclosures under ASC 740.
  • Support tax reporting activities including federal, state, and local tax reporting including:
    • US federal income tax compliance
    • State and local income tax compliance
    • Manage and provide strategic oversight for federal, state, and local audits as they arise.
    • Oversee outsourced relationships involving sales, use, and property taxes.
  • Work closely with tax, finance, and operations personnel to develop relationships and identify planning opportunities with the goal of driving value from the tax organization and to ensure that tax considerations are surfaced and addressed in a timely manner
  • Monitor, analyze, and report changes to US and foreign tax laws and regulations to determine the financial statement impact.
  • Continue to drive efficiencies in the worldwide processes to reduce timelines while maintaining the reliability/integrity of work products.

KEY CHARACTERISTICS AND QUALIFICATIONS


  • CPA and/or Master’s Degree in Taxation a plus
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of income tax experience managing and developing a diverse group of tax professionals in addition to:
  • Significant experience in managing and preparing income tax returns both in US and abroad.
  • US state and local tax experience.
  • Expertise in complex federal and international tax concepts applicable to corporations
  • Experienced manager/reviewer of ASC 740 preparation and analysis
  • Experience with tax research software, i.e., CCH, BNA, etc.
  • Strong MS Excel skills
  • Effective oral and written communications skills
  • SAP skills a plus as well
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience with tax compliance and provision software (specifically the ONESOURCE Tax suite of products)
