Position Summary:The Director reports to the Provost & Vice President forAcademic and Student Affairs and works closely with the Provostoffice staff. The Director provides leadership for the developmentand implementation of the School's vision and mission within thescope of the larger University vision and mission, and isresponsible for the School's effective operation including itsOregon Center for the Arts component. Participates in the AcademicDirector's Advisory Council and other university wide committees asappropriate.


This 1.0 FTE position is encouraged to teach one course peryear.


Minimum Qualifications:Appropriate terminal degree and academic credentials thatqualify for appointment as Associate Professor or Professor withina department represented in the School.At least two years of experience as Department Chair or higher,or equivalent.Demonstrated ability to manage an academic enterprise.Demonstrated ability to effectively represent School programsto the external stakeholders and community partners.


Preferred Qualification :At least three years of experience as Department Chair orhigher, or equivalent.Familiarity with producing and/or presenting artisticevents.Tenure or Tenure eligible at current institution.Demonstrated experience with enrollment management, includingrecruitment and retention strategies.Experience managing an academic enterprise that includes anarts communication, and or media organization.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Excellent communication skills; ability to effectivelycommunicate information in a clear and understandable manner, bothverbally and in writing.


Demonstrated customer service experience requiring a very highlevel of diplomacy and professionalism to effectively handle abroad range of sensitive interpersonal situations.


Demonstrated ability to interpret and consistently apply a widevariety of complex policies and procedures where specificguidelines may not always exist.


Ability to work with frequent changes in policies andprocedures, under pressure of deadlines in a fast-pacedenvironment.


Strong analytical and research skills; ability to gather,evaluate, and to develop well-reasoned conclusions andrecommendations.


Ability to proactively assess work operations and anticipatepotential problems; ability to develop and implement strategies forpreventing/resolving problems.


Ability to effectively perform work of a highly sensitive andconfidential nature that requires access to information. Ability toexercise sound judgment and discretion, tact, anddiplomacy.


Initiative in independently planning, organizing, andperforming work assignments within broadly definedparameters.


Ability to work with a high level of productivity andaccuracy/attention to detail.


Excellent organizational and time management skills with theability to set own priorities to coordinate multiple assignmentswith fluctuating and time-sensitive deadlines.


Excellent computer skills and proficiency with a variety ofcomputer applications including word-processing, spreadsheets,databases, online systems, social media platforms, Internet as wellas online calendaring and email.


Ability to initiate, establish, and foster communication andteamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative, productive workatmosphere in and outside the University with the ability toestablish and maintain effective working relationships within adiverse population and with those from various culturalbackgrounds.


Ability to adapt to and work effectively in a heavilybureaucratic environment which requires regular interaction with anumber of levels within the organization and multiple outsideagencies.


Working knowledge, or ability to quickly learn, universityinfrastructure, policies and procedures.


Provides training and direction to student assistants.Demonstrated Service Excellence.
