Job Title
Director, Digital and Social Marketing
The Business Leader for US Digital Marketing will develop social marketing strategies, drive execution and analytics for all social initiatives. This position communicates cross-functionally to coordinate the many processes necessary to develop, implement, execute and manage an effective social media strategy and execute break though social campaigns with excellence. Responsible for creating, maintaining and optimizing an annual US social marketing plan that supports overall US marketing initiatives and US Region objectives.
Major accountabilities:
  • Analyze, develop, and execute new and alternative social media strategies using social media techniques and practices, and provide recommendations for optimum visibility and traffic across all products and services.
  • Partner with US Media team to foster partnerships with leading media and digital service providers: publications, sites, networks, content providers etc, to create new business opportunities, strengthen marketing programs, enhance product benefits, add value to issuers/merchants
  • Partner and lead cross functional teams to identify and define social opportunities related to US Marketing and Products, and provide formal and actionable recommendations/ solutions
  • Responsible for identifying social measurement key performance initiatives (KPIs); track and analyze the chatter, engagement, tonality, and measure and optimize against both business and brand objectives.
  • Provide recommendations and implement acquisition and retention strategies to maintain a solid loyal fan base to grow social communities.
  • Actively interface within the social sphere and provide recommendations for new partnerships and test and learn opportunities
  • Actively participate in social media conversations to enhance and grow the brand by creating and pushing relevant, timely and engaging content.
  • Responsible for social operations, coordination and all activities involved with MasterCard US social channels (content calendar management, maintenance, optimization on Facebook, Twitter, Four Square, YouTube, etc)
o Liaise with agencies, technology and key social partners, as required, on social reports, updates, reporting tool, etc.
o Develop weekly, monthly & quarterly reports and recommendations, refining or adjusting as required.
o Provide recommendations and communicate to other departments future programs gleaned from learnings in the Social space
o Translate social conversations and comments from brand customers into actionable brand solutions and disseminate this information to internal departments to respond appropriately.
  • Ability and passion to stay current on social trends and perform frequent analyses to identify opportunities within the marketplace and drive innovation
Education (preferred): Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or Communications
Knowledge/ Skills (preferred):
  • Experience participating in a wide variety of social media activities such as blogging, community development and management, social bookmarking, commenting, etc. required
  • Experience working with external agencies and vendors a plus
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong passion for and knowledge/expertise of technology, emerging media and social
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines with effective execution and coordination across multiple teams
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams with members from all levels of the organization with multiple projects running simultaneously
  • Proven experience developing social media strategies
  • 7-10 years of experience in social media and/ or digital media space .Creative thinker with desire and tenacity to test innovative solutions
  • Strong Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Must be an enthusiastic and avid social media junky
  • Proven ability to build consensus and work effectively within a cross-departmental team
  • Hands-on experience with digital and traditional communication disciplines and how it relates to brand goals. (e.g. tweets, email blasts, Facebook posts, Foursquare, mobile, etc)
  • Propensity to think both creatively and analytically and the discretion on when to use each.
  • Solid project management skills
