The University of Maine at Farmington (UMF) is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as the Director of the Adult Completion Program. UMF, a prestigious public liberal arts university located in the picturesque region of Farmington, Maine, provides transformative educational experiences for students of all ages and backgrounds. As the Director of the Adult Completion Program, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the University's mission of fostering lifelong learning and supporting adult learners in achieving their educational goals. Reporting directly to the Associate Dean for Graduate and Continuing Education, the Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Adult Completion Program, providing strategic direction, and ensuring the program's continued growth and success.


Responsibilities


  • Student Support: Create a welcoming and inclusive environment that empowers adult students to succeed academically and personally. Develop and implement support services, including academic advising, mentoring, and career counseling, to ensure student success.
  • Program Leadership: Develop and implement a strategic vision for the Adult Completion Program that aligns with the university's mission and values. Collaborate with a team of dedicated staff within the University to provide exceptional support to adult learners throughout their academic journey.
  • Program Assessment: Establish benchmarks and metrics to evaluate the program's effectiveness and student outcomes. Utilize data-driven insights to make informed decisions and continually improve the program's quality.
  • Recruitment and Outreach: Collaborate with the university's marketing and recruitment team to attract and enroll a diverse population of adult learners. Develop outreach strategies and initiatives to engage prospective students and community partners.
  • Budget Management: Responsible for effective oversight of the program's budget, ensuring resources are used and allocated correctly.

Qualifications


Required Competencies:


Planning and organizing: Plan and organize work to manage time effectively and accomplish job duties; Excellent analytical and organizational skills.


Innovative thinking: The ability to use existing and emerging technology and tools to create new and innovative solutions to problems and needs. Works independently with complex data sets which ensures the ability of the office to support and financial goals.


Adaptability: The ability to react at a moment’s notice to effectively adjust direction. To be able to quickly learn and work effectively with new technology as well as the changing landscape of campus focus, administrators/leadership, and strategy.


Problem Solving and Decision Making: Observe and evaluate the outcomes of implementing the solution to assess the need for alternative approaches and to identify lessons learned.


Customer support: Demonstrate ability to communicate with campus stakeholders for the purpose of assessing their needs and helping them solve problems related to information technology.


Initiative and Enthusiasm: Maintains an enthusiastic, self-reliant, and self-starting approach to meet job responsibilities and accountabilities.


Creativity: Demonstrate ability to be creative with marketing and outreach efforts to the Adult Learner is imperative, with out of the box thinking.


Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in education, student affairs, or related field or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Five years’ work experience with adult learners at a community college and/or university and/or product sales experience.
  • Prior experience working with CRM tools and student information systems for the purposes of recruitment and student information tracking.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and reporting.
  • Knowledge of information flow in a Recruiting and Admissions environment.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in adult education, student affairs, or related field; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
