We have opportunities for full-time and part-time employment, as well as on-call relief pool for those who are looking for a more flexible schedule.
We are seeking candidates with an affinity for working with people with challenging behavior and/or high medical support needs. In addition, we have a need for applicants who know American Sign Language (ASL) or are willing and capable of learning.

NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED! *All new Alvord-Taylor Direct Support Professionals undergo a minimum of 60 hours of classroom training as well as job shadowing to ensure they have all the skills they need to succeed in our programs.

This position is eligible for a one time sign on bonus of $500 after successful completion of two weeks of employment.
Position Summary
Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) provide support to individuals with disabilities to assist them in reaching their highest level of independence. DSPs always promote an environment of learning and motivation. DSPs assist the individuals we support in developing fun and rewarding life opportunities and help them build meaningful relationships within their communities.
Responsibilities
Support individuals as needed in daily living activities, such as personal and health management, communication, self-advocacy, achieving personal and educational goals, meal planning and preparation, shopping, housekeeping, basic home maintenance and safety, home management, financial management community involvement, developing friendships and relationships, and decision making. This will require transporting individuals in company vehicles as needed.
Maintain a balance between health and safety and the persons choices.
Advocate for the rights of the individuals we support.
Utilize feedback from individuals, team members, friends, and family to develop Individual Support Plans (ISPs) using the Oregon ISP Process and work with program team to implement ISPs as approved by the individual's ISP Team.
Administer medication to individuals requiring such support.
Prepare required and requested reports and documentation. Must write daily logs on supports provided. Assist in maintaining records of medical and dental treatments.
Exhibit clear, consistent emotional and professional boundaries and an ability to communicate assertively.
Report suspected neglect or abuse to Lane County Developmental Disability Services per the OAR requirements.
Attend all team meetings and training as required.
Train and welcome new staff into the homes.
Job requirements may include assisting residents with gait support, although absolutely no lifting of residents is allowed. Job requirements may include to lifting items up to 25 lbs.
