Job Description

We are seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) who are passionate about working with individuals with developmental disabilities. This includes but is not limited to assisting people with activities of daily living, hygiene, meal prep, mobility, and behavioral supports.

We have openings to work in a variety of capacities and settings, including residential homes and supporting those in the community or in their own home.

General Requirements:

  • Must have verbal and written communication skills adequate to the specific job.
  • Must be able to meet minimum training requirements and complete renewals as assigned.
  • 3 professional references are required.
  • Reliable transportation to the work site.
  • Approved Background Clearance Application, through the State Background Check Unit every 2 years or when the employee's position changes.
  • Current driver's license or identification card is required as well.
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
Essential Functions:
  • Responding to emergency and/or crisis situations (including, and not limited to physical intervention).
  • Provide a stable living environment by promoting and attending to the person’s right to respect and dignity, individual choice and input, and health and safety needs at all times.
  • Be literate and capable of following written and oral communications.
  • Be able to work unsupervised and alone with individual(s) supported.
  • Dependable, reliable, and regular work attendance, including staff meetings.
  • Being able to professionally interface with a variety of teams and people.
  • This position requires cross training and intermittent coverage as needed.
  • Basic math, writing, and computer skills.
  • Work schedule varies in days/times/location Friday-Sunday.
  • Providing or assisting with transportation needs of people assigned to support.
  • Complete and maintain all certifications as required by position, Hummingbird, and other governing agencies.
  • Complete all duties related to being a Mandatory Abuse Reporter.
Employees will be required to follow any other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties as requested by their supervisor.
