Job Description
Description

Effective August 03, 2023, the Town of Davie will be transitioning to a four (4) day work week schedule (10 hours per day). Hours of work will be Monday through Thursday either 7:00am-5:30pm or 7:30am-6:00pm.

Under administrative direction, the purpose of this position is to perform forensic examinations on computers, cellular phones, computer networks and related electronic storage media. Work includes collection, processing, preservation, analysis and presentation of computer related evidence, including data retrieval, breaking passwords, and finding hidden or otherwise “invisible” information. This position report to Police Sergeant or designee.

Minimum Requirements (Must meet by the closing date of the posting unless otherwise stated)

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s license throughout employment without any restrictions that affect job performance.
  • Digital Forensics Software – (i.e. MCFE, CCPA, GKO, OFC, XRYC, ACE, X-Ways)
  • Digital Forensics, Vendor Neutral – (i.e. CCE, CCFT, GCFE, GCFA).
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience practicing digital forensic examinations for a law enforcement agency.
  • Have at least two (2) generally accepted digital forensic certifications:
    • Digital Forensics Software – (i.e. MCFE, CCPA, GKO, OFC, XRYC, ACE, X-Ways)
    • Digital Forensics, Vendor Neutral – (i.e. CCE, CCFT, GCFE, GCFA).
    • International Association of Computer Investigative Specialist (IACIS) - (i.e. CFCE, ICMDE, CAWFE).
  • Associate’s degree in computer science, public administration, or related field.
  • International Association of Computer Investigative Specialist (IACIS) - (i.e. CFCE, ICMDE, CAWFE).

Special Requirements

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to provide courtroom testimony.
  • Ability to obtain and process forensic evidence into a format that can be used for legal purposes.
  • Knowledge of chain of custody and the uniqueness of digital evidence.
  • Strong time management skills with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all aspects of the digital media and devices including but not limited to computers, mobile devices, external storage media, third party data sources, and loT devices preferably in a criminal justice or similar law enforcement environment.
