Summary
The diabetes nurse educator is responsible for the successful planning, organizing, directing, implementation and evaluation of the delivery of care to the patient with diabetes. She/he functions collaboratively with interdisciplinary staff both internal and external to the organization to attain quality and cost-effective patient outcomes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
EDUCATION AND FORMAL TRAINING:
Current RN licensure in North Carolina required. Graduate of an approved school of professional nursing, BSN and Diabetes certification preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Five years clinical nursing experience required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills. Demonstrated effective organizational, teaching and leadership skills. Computer skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Verbal abilities for making presentations. Much standing, walking, bending, and lifting. Position may involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material. Visual/auditory acuity needed.
