We are looking for a committed and proactive individual with excellent attention to detail and organization to join our team as a development scientist! The ideal applicant will be a scientifically minded individual who can read and interpret scientific literature, as well as produce scientific procedures and reports in accordance with established business criteria. General tasks include executing numerous clinical laboratory tests to acquire data while adhering to established standards, practices, and procedures and using independent/correlated analytical judgement, as well as maintaining laboratory records, including quality control.

CORE FUNCTIONS:

• Uses a microscope or automated analysers to perform chemical and urinalysis on human clinical samples (blood, urine). Executes proficiency testing and analysis in accordance with specified protocols

• Informs manager about the status of studies, develops short experimental protocols/reports with supervision, and makes brief data presentations.

• Sets up, adjusts, maintains, and cleans laboratory equipment used during testing.

• Keeps inventory/supplies needed for testing.

• Ensures that all laboratory work is documented in accordance with business rules and regulatory agencies. Maintains laboratory notebooks/logbooks properly

• Assists in the verification and validation of new and updated product designs;

• Takes part in basic process improvement initiatives; and

• Trains new team members on instrument setup/maintenance and departmental processes.

• Ensures technical criteria are met with quality assurance.

CORE REQUIREMENTS:

• A four-year bachelor's degree in biological sciences, chemistry, or a STEM-related discipline, with three years of direct applicable experience

• Master's degree in a scientific subject plus at least one year of direct relevant experience

• 2+ years of General Clinical Laboratory experience with a combination of clinical laboratory and either clinical research laboratory or in-vitro diagnostic / biotechnology / Pharmacology (FDA regulated) laboratory experience

• Prior R&D and/or clinical expertise in urinalysis, haematology, immunoassay, clinical chemistry, or flow cytometry would be advantageous.

• Ability to analyse and handle private information with discretion

• Ability to operate alone and/or in a collaborative setting

• Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams)

• Demonstrates professional interest in self-development and presents a good attitude and professional image.
