Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Development Manager is responsible for the development, planning, implementation and maintenance of donor relations and fundraising initiatives on behalf of Lanakila Pacific to further the organization’s mission. This includes, but is not limited to, the strategic priority of acquiring, retaining and stewarding donors and other constituents for the purpose of raising funds for Lanakila Pacific. The Development Manager supports the mission, vision and values of the organization, and upholds and enforces the guidelines and policies of the organization and demonstrates Lanakila Pacific’s values of teamwork, excellence, achievement, and motivation in all personal interactions and upholds and enforces the guidelines and policies of the organization and exemplifies Lanakila’s STAR service standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Implementation and Infrastructure

  • Collaborate with Marketing Team to develop, support and implement major fundraising and advocacy events such as March for Meals, The Good Table, etc.
  • Develop, implement and manage major gifts and planned giving programs to increase donor giving
  • Support Contract Administrator with grant application and processing, including identifying potential new funding sources, writing grants, and monitoring and coordinating required report evaluations on existing grants.
  • Develop, design and implement communication strategies and collateral aimed to acquire, retain and steward donors and volunteers.
  • Develop and implement events and initiatives to acquire, retain and steward donors and volunteers.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, volunteers, community partners and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct presentations and tours of Lanakila Pacific’s programs and promote products and services.
  • Manage Lanakila Pacific’s gift processing including donation collection, acknowledgment, CRM data entry, reconciliation, and correspondence received from constituents - ensuring high levels of accuracy of donor files and timely information entry in database management system.
  • Manage the fundraising budget
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments to meet development objectives while maintaining alignment with the company’s overall plan and objectives
  • Represent Lanakila Pacific at community meetings and events
  • Provide media & public speaking support as needed.
  • Lead and manage the development and implementation of donor relations and fundraising strategies to meet revenue goals.

Other Duties:

  • Perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned, including but not limited to program promotion, representing the organization at events, and fundraising activities.
  • Assist with developing the annual budget and ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget through regular monitoring of outcomes and expenditures, on assigned projects.
  • Operates in a fiscally responsible way, protecting and safeguarding company assets and eliminating waste and inefficiencies.
  • Participate in the recruitment process and makes recommendations for hiring.
  • Ensure all safety procedures and practices are followed and enforced, and that safeguards and proper safety gear, such as gloves, are used when appropriate.
  • Complete training as mandated by organizational policy.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to gain and possess thorough knowledge of Lanakila Pacific’s programs and seek ongoing educational opportunities related to the position.
  • Supervise and direct the day-to-day work of staff, assist with performance evaluations and improvement plans as needed, and appropriately address complaints, documents incidents and disciplines employees.
  • Demonstrate cultural competency and the ability to interact effectively with people of different cultures, socio-economic backgrounds, and cognitive abilities without bias.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with confidential information and comply with established policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Review financial statements, reports, and statistical data to ensure accuracy and timely billing, payment, and reimbursement, as assigned.
  • Serve as a role model for the staff, participants and volunteers and as a member of the leadership team works to create a healthful and respectful environment.

  • Ability to use various software systems, intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office products, or other comparable programs.
  • Technology/Tools:

Required

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Clearance/Certification: 1) TB clearance, 2) Criminal background check, 3) Pre-employment drug testing, 4) Child Protective Services/Adult Protective check.
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in marketing, communications, or related field; AND/OR 5 years of supervisory work experience in development, donor relations, fundraising, marketing, communications, or related field
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
  • Demonstrated excellent writing and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and plan in detail

Preferred

  • Print and digital graphic design; video production/editing; working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite programs (Illustrator, In-Design, Photoshop and/or Premiere)

WORKING CONDITIONS/HOURS:

Monday through Friday, normal business hours 7:30 am – 4:30 pm. Hours and work days, including weekends and holidays, may vary due to operational needs and contract requirements. Indoors, office setting some telework available, outdoors; may travel to see employees, other program sites, meeting sites, etc., as required.
