Job Description
The Development Associate reports to the Director of Development and Communications and is a trusted and integral partner on the Development team. The Development Associate should have a consistent connection with all Development team members to encourage a collegial and interactive spirit. Requiring organizational skills, attention to detail, and flexibility, the Development Associate will enhance the team’s success ensuring accurate accounting of donations – both financial and of time through volunteer service. This position is responsible for departmental database systems including development CRM and volunteer management system.


General Responsibilities


  • Support an environment where volunteers are productively engaged
  • Support implementation of programs and practices to achieve greater operational efficiency and productivity
  • Promote an environment where staff, volunteers and homeowner safety is a high priority
  • Support an environment where staff members are strongly encouraged to participate in faith formation activities
  • Represent Habitat Greensboro in the Greensboro community, with Habitat International, and among other Habitat affiliates
  • Uphold the Mission and Vision of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Greensboro


Job Specific Responsibilities


Data Management


  • Generate, edit, and review donor letters to ensure accuracy of terms and conditions
  • Manages operational aspects of the Development team which include Raiser’s Edge gift entry, donor acknowledgements, department financial reconciliation and other financial reporting when needed
  • Manage donor stewardship plan, engaging staff in plan and ensuring coordination of stewardship events, incentive gifts, etc. to recognize contributions.
  • Help maintain databases and support team through oversight of data entry, cleaning, and maintenance, to ensure data integrity
  • Assist with grants management - tracking submittals, timelines, and reporting requirements for charitable foundations.


Volunteer Services


  • Maintain consistent communication with volunteers; coordinate efforts to recognize volunteers for their service, including special event planning for volunteer appreciation and community recognition
  • Maintain volunteer hours tracking in volunteer management system
  • Maintain up-to-date volunteer opportunities in volunteer management system
  • Partner with Stewardship Manager to ensure coordination of hospitality at the construction site on major build days, including most Saturdays; (Responsibility for this role can be delegated or shared with others)
  • Relationships:
  • External: Various committee volunteers and donors
  • Internal: This position works in coordination with other members of the team who work on or whose work intersects with Development and Communications including all Development and Volunteer Services Staff, the CEO, Finance, Construction and ReStore staff and other appropriate staff.
  • Maintain a database of active volunteers with contact information, affiliations, gifts-in-kind, skills, and participation on the job site
  • Coordinate with construction staff to arrange for necessary individual volunteers and with Senior Development Associate to coordinate corporate and group volunteer opportunities
  • Support Weekday Crew Volunteers as needed


Qualifications


  • Experience: Minimum 3 years experience in administration and/or operations, preferably in the non-profit arena.
  • This position is classified as full-time regular, nonexempt.
  • Skills: Strong organizational and communication skills. Computer literacy and working knowledge of office software applications and programs. Working knowledge of computers, including spreadsheet and databases a must. Willingness to learn and be proactive in identifying needs and requesting help. Service oriented. Ability to edit and develop written letters, reports, and memos.
  • Education: B.A. or B.S. preferred.
