Job Description

Responsible for creating 3D models for new product designs and creating accurate drawings for production so the product is built properly.


The ideal Design & Production Engineer candidate will have a degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university with good experience in 3D modeling (Inventor is a plus). The ideal candidate will also be skilled in AutoCAD and familiar with other related engineering software. Experience with pumps, flow control systems, mechanical drives, power transmission systems, piping, structural steel and mechanical assemblies is a benefit.


RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition, the Design & Production Engineer will layout and develop mechanical submittal and manufacturing drawings based on an Engineering Order, including piping and structural layouts, and P&ID schematics. They use the company ERP software to create and load Bills of Material and are able to define installation instructions for the defined project. They work closely with and assist other designers, drafters, and engineers. Broadly speaking, the incumbent will provide engineering excellence and design engineering functions including:

  • Building 2D drawings with proper dimensions and annotations for production to occur accurately.
  • Moving flexibly from project to project as business needs dictate to fulfill orders in a timely fashion.
  • Working closely with other designers, drafters, engineers, application engineers, and engineering managers with a team spirit to produce excellent models, drawings, and Company products.
  • Completing production and design projects while coordinating with supervisors and other departments.
  • Modifying, preparing, and checking submittals, manufacturing and production drawings, and Bills of Materials for the control and distribution of company products.
  • Creating 3D models using Inventor from specs provided by Application Engineers working with customers and consulting engineers.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with pumps, flow control systems, mechanical drives, power transmission systems, piping, structural steel and mechanical assemblies is a benefit.
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university (preferred), others considered.
  • 0 - 2 years' experience as a Production Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with 3D modeling, AutoCAD and common drafting practices.
