The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Product Development Center (PDC) located in Wauwatosa, WI is home to the mantra – You dream it. We build it. Join our team as a Design Engineer - Paint & Finishes.
Job Summary
This position resides in the paint and graphics engineering team responsible for new product development of paint sets for all Harley-Davidson and LiveWire products. Paint design engineers collaborate across our Design Studio, suppliers, and manufacturing stakeholder areas to develop new paint sets for each model year. This position will own specific supplier painted components, design decorative chassis components, and be responsible for master part samples from the Design Studio.
This position is hybrid, with on-site support required 1-2 days a week or as needed at our Product Development Center in Wauwatosa.
Travel will be required to support supplier meetings and build events, travel less than 10%.
Job Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates working knowledge and experience of new and changing technology through continuous learning in order to develop high quality engineering products and continuously improve processes. Ability to drive results with a moderate level of guidance and direction.
  • Works effectively with cross functional teams and participate in the reduce time to market initiative by identifying, implementing and measuring the results of innovative product development techniques within the teams.
  • Provides informal guidance to new design engineer team members and delegates responsibilities to team members when appropriate.
  • Impacts quality of their own work through effectively communicating complex information with stakeholders such as designers, detailers, technicians and outside suppliers.
  • Partner with the Design Studio, Styled Surfaces team, and 3rd-party to develop tank medallions, badges. trim pieces, and other decorative components.
  • Solves engineering issues relating to quality, cost and timing expectations by analyzing possible solutions using technical experience and judgement with a moderate level of guidance and direction.

Education Specifications
  • Requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or a related technical field
Experience Requirements
This position requires a minimum of 3 years of related experience. A successful candidate typically demonstrates the following:
  • Knowledge of engineering calculations, engineering analysis, computerized design, and computer-aided design (CAD) function
  • Motorcycle or automotive/vehicle experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Pro-E skills with a minimum of 4000 hours of use is preferred.
  • Paint application or formulation experience is preferred.

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
