We’re looking for a Deputy Director of Instructional Design and eLearning to create and help manage our courseware as well as associated processes and procedures. This is a full-time, in person role in Washington, DC. Successful applicants will live or be willing to re-locate to the Washington, DC metro area.


Duties And Responsibilities


  • Maintain and refresh content as required to keep eLearning courses current
  • Work with the Director to build a skilled and experienced team from the ground up and foster the professional, talent, and leadership advancement of that team
  • Design innovative instructional and learning strategies and associated technologies to optimize learning and achieve learning objectives
  • Work closely with the Director and other company executives to understand customer and user needs, develop tasks and requirements, as well as to perform quality assurance and quality control activities, including SME reviews, design reviews, course pilots, and hot washes
  • Work with our network of experts and instructors
  • Create and conduct learning evaluations, both formative and summative
  • Plan, design, develop, and organize effective instructional eLearning solutions — including self-paced courseware and associated educational materials — applying data standards and best practices in a rapid development context

Requirements


What Qualities and Qualifications Do We Want?


  • U.S. government or military experience is desirable but not required
  • Comfortable creating and abiding by organization, procedures, and action plans from ambiguous or difficult issues
  • Strong sense of ownership and the capacity to act with urgency as appropriate
  • Right to work in the United States
  • 3+ years of experience with eLearning authoring tools such as Adobe Captivate/Animate, Articulate Storyline, and Adobe Professional Suite to create, develop, or manipulate assets for eLearning courses
  • Experience developing storyboards, student guides, and other training materials
  • Demonstrated commitment to user and customer satisfaction
  • 2+ years of management experience
  • High EQ
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience designing formative and summative assessments of learning
  • Someone who is interested in growing a team and growing into a more senior role
  • At ease working in a dynamic, team-based start-up environment
  • College degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Educational Psychology, Learning Science/Engineering, or another relevant discipline or equivalent combination of education, certification, experience, and training
  • Believes in the power of the Age of Lifelong Learning
  • 5+ years of progressive experience developing asynchronous eLearning courses using a variety of applications and internet technologies. If you do not have experience doing this, you should not apply to this job.
