The Deputy Director, Communications and Development works with the Chief External Relations Officer to develop The Task Force’s external relations strategy and manage the team responsible for implementing it. JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Content creation: Contributes to content creation, either writing or editing pieces for various Task Force audiences, both external and internal.
- Management: Manages a creative, fast-paced team with time-sensitive deadlines and values effective project management and leaders who coach, contribute, and model Task Force values of inclusion and belonging.
- Writes and edits communication materials for distribution to donors. Maintains information on selected donors and prospects, including contact reports in the Salesforce CRM system.
- Development: Develops and implements a donor engagement program; leads donor cultivation activities, including research, donor communications, and leveraging Salesforce for donor engagement. Leads, develops, and implements strategies for identifying, cultivating, and successfully soliciting individuals, corporations, and foundations.
- Strategic leadership: Collaborates with Chief External Relations Officer, other Task Force leaders, and the communications and development team to implement an external relations strategy that positions The Task Force’s global health expertise and engages key audiences.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven fundraising experience, both with philanthropic donors and institutions (government, foundation, and corporate).
- Project management experience; coordinating projects across a team.
- Five or more years of management experience, building and guiding teams to achieve measurable results.
- A bachelor's degree and seven years of experience working in the global health and development sector, with a focus on communications and development, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in a related field
- Experience working in or volunteering in low- and middle-income countries
TRAVEL: 10% domestic and international travel
