The Dentist(Pediatric Dental Consultant)assumes responsibility for providing limited safe dental screening and preventative treatment to children. This includes screenings and ordering of dental sealants and supervising the care provided by the dental hygienist and/or dental hygiene students. Locations: Kona Area\ \ ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS


  • Diagnose children with any urgent dental problems requiring dental referral
  • Provide supervision to dental hygienists during scheduled dental sealant days scheduled at Department of Education Schools in Hawaii.
  • Perform dental assessment of students who have signed consents to participate in the dental screening and possible dental sealant applications
  • Review and sign data collected at each school site
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
  • Assist with and make recommendation for equipment required for dental sealant program
  • Communicate with Hawaii Keiki Administration and Senior Practice Director for scheduling requests for dental sealant days
  • Order dental sealants for eligible students once examination is completed
  • Assist in the development and edits to the dental sealant policy and procedure manual
  • Comply with all legal requirements and company policies
  • Oversee the application of the dental sealants for proper technique to assure quality control
  • Monitor the billing for dental services (limited examination and sealant application) for those students who receive services
  • Report to Senior Practice Director any concerns or suggestions for improvement in the dental sealant program process


Qualification Requirements


Education, Training and Experience


Minimum


  • 5 years of experience in the professional practice of General Dentistry
  • Current Hawaii State Dental license
  • 5 years of experience working with mobile dental clinic equipment
  • 5 years of experience consulting in the health care community in Hawaii
  • Current CPR/BLS certification


JOB CONDITIONS


  • Exposure to communicable diseases, blood and other bodily fluids
  • Works under conditions that require clinical judgment to resolve
  • Work days to include: Tuesday and Thursdays (8:00 a.m. to 11:30 am) Hours may be flexed to accommodate clinic schedules, and duties may require extended hours.
