Under the supervision of the Dean Healthcare Pathway, supervises the Dental Hygiene Clinic as assigned, and assumes responsibility for decisions concerning the necessity for medical release prior to clinical treatment of the patient. Responsible for directing medical emergencies, and serves as resource person to students and faculty, complies and reinforces clinic policies, and serves as a model of professionalism. In addition, this position supervises and assists student clinicians in the following: exposing radiographs, interpreting radiographs, tissue analysis, identification of normal and abnormal oral structures, identification of pathologies and their etiology, recognition of conditions which preclude treatment, charting of dental conditions, and aseptic technique.
- Review patient records for DDS signatures at the end of each clinical session.
- Function as a liaison between MATC Dental Hygiene Program and professional organizations.
- Review student clinicians’ appointment plan and instructor objectives.
- Suggest alternative approaches to Process 4 student clinicians.
- Encourage verbal reporting or findings during verification checks.
- Be familiar with the sequence that is recommended for procedures.
- Work with the students assigned to the Initial Consultations appointments for the day and prescribe and evaluate all radiographs.
- Attend clinical staff meetings at the beginning of each semester.
- Observe assessments and give suggestions.
- Review charts at beginning of clinic to be familiar with patients’ needs.
- Circulate through clinic to be available to student clinicians.
- Encourage students to take increasing responsibility for their work.
- Check dental charting and plaque/stain verification-if available.
Required Education: Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS).
Preferred Education: Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD).
Required License/Certification: Licensed as a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) in the State of Wisconsin.
Preferred License/Certification: None.

HEALTH INSURANCE: MATC offers a choice between two medical insurance plans. See below for plan types:

Note: All medical plans include Prescription Drug benefits at no additional costs to employees.
DENTAL INSURANCE: MATC offers a traditional group dental plan through Delta Dental.
Annual maximum per covered person is $2,500; plan covers preventive, routine, restoration, and orthodontics for dependents up to age 19.
GROUP TERM LIFE INSURANCE: MATC offers group life insurance benefits through Symetra Provident Insurance with active assignment and is fully paid for by the College. The amount of insurance is $15,000. The benefit is doubled in the event of accidental death.
RETIREMENT BENEFITS: If you are employed for greater than 12 months and meet the minimum hours requirement for participation in the WRS pension system, you will be notified of your eligibility. The College currently pays the full cost of the employer contribution (6.8%), and the employee pays the full part of the employee contribution of 6.8% of salary. There is a five year vesting period requirement in order to qualify for any employer contributions made on the employee's behalf.
FLEXIBLE SPENDING PLANS: MATC offers eligible employees the opportunity to participate in both Health Care and Dependent Care flexible spending accounts administered through UMR.
SICK LEAVE BENEFITS: Sick leave hours granted based on hours worked in summary from 8/15 of previous year through 8/14 of current year. The maximum hours accumulation is 640 hours.
VACATION BENEFITS: Vacation hours granted based on hours worked summary from 3/15 of previous year through 3/14 of current year (Not available for Instructors)
PAID HOLIDAYS: MATC offers paid/flex holidays based on position.
