Description:

Job Summary:
To maintain a high level of customer service while assisting in the daily operation in the Deli department; to maintain a neat, clean and visually appealing department and to perform other tasks as required in an efficient and safe manner, within Company policy.
Essential Job Functions:
The essential job functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Ability to perform basic math skills.
  • Ability to unload trucks.
  • Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language.
  • Ability to operate equipment as require by department, i.e., slicer, scale, can opener, wrapping machine, rotisserie, fryolator, cheese grater/cutter, case cutter and stove/oven.
  • Meet all work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies..
  • Provides customers with superior service.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures.
  • Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance at all times and observe company dress code policies.
  • Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 25 lbs., and occasionally lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices and powdered substances without negative allergic consequences.
  • Adhere to all local, state and federal health and civil code regulations.
  • Ability to tolerate moderate amounts of dust and cleaning agents during routine housekeeping duties.

Requirements:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Checks product received against invoice.
  • Prepare and Replenish Deli product for sale.
  • Be knowledgeable in and able to differentiate between all of the various types of merchandise including taste, preparation method or use, and price differences between varieties of similar classes of products.
  • Use a slicing machine and related equipment.
  • Be knowledgeable in the company's HAZCOM program and adhere to manufacturer's label instructions for the safe and proper use of all chemical products. Complete all applicable department training programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Comply with all Price Rite Service Priorities; clean, fresh friendly.
  • Follow approved procedures for receiving, code dating, preparing, storing, and price marking, arranging, and restocking products to ensure quality, accuracy and product rotation and protection.
  • Displays product in an attractive, appealing, and colorful manner.
  • Completes price changes as directed by department manager.
  • Maintain department sanitation and QA standards by cleaning and sanitizing all work surfaces, utensils and equipment. Keep floor clear of debris and spills.
  • Dress according to company policy to include white shirt, black pants, apron, name badge, and hat or hair restraint. Comply with QA hand washing standards and use disposable and safety gloves when handling food or cleaning equipment.
  • Utilize and maintain equipment as required by department; report any equipment problems immediately.
  • Check refrigeration equipment for proper performance regularly; report any failure immediately.
  • Always operate equipment with all safeguards in place and in good operating condition. Observe safe methods of performing all duties.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment.
  • Removes trash to designated area. Removes cardboard to baler area and operates baler.
  • Handle damaged and spoiled products according to company policy and assist in controlling the level of damaged goods.
  • May ring a register.
  • Adhere to all Federal, State and Local regulations as they pertain to the Deli operation.
  • Keeps displays stocked and properly turned and faced at all times in accordance with department standards.

Job Expectations:

  • Part Time Training Requirements - All Team Members are provided paid training and expected to successfully complete all components of training within the first 30 days. This includes web based and hands-on training.
  • Stockers are expected to meet efficiency and productively standards.
  • All Team Members are expected to report to work as scheduled and required to record work time through our electronic time and attendance system. Excessive lateness and/or absences is not acceptable.
  • Part Time work hours - Our business requires a flexible scheduling consisting of days, evenings and weekends. Weekly average hours for part time is 20-25. Hours fluctuate weekly in accordance with business needs.

NOTE: ASSOCIATES MUST BE 18 YEARS OR OLDER TO OPERATE BALERS, HI-LOs, POWER JACKS AND SLICING MACHINES.
