Job Description
Join the Deli team at Eastside Food Co-op in the Heart of Northeast Minneapolis! We're looking for team members who are visionary, hard-working and committed to community building! Deli Assistant Deli staff provide excellent customer service, maintain a clean and stocked department, and are positive contributors to the Deli Department team. Deli Assistants are cross-trained as Counter Staff who prepare made-to-order foods from a menu; as a Prep/Packer who prepares, packages, labels, and merchandises prepared foods; and in dishwashing. Deli Assistants follow all established procedures, working both independently and as a team to achieve department goals. ALL CO-OP STAFF WILL: Use all available tools and resources in order to provide excellent and knowledgeable customer service to all customers, coworkers, and vendors Communicate professionally and respectfully with everyone you encounter while at work Adhere to all store and department policies and procedures Demonstrate regular, predictable good attendance Attend huddles and meetings as scheduled Commit to contributing to a positive, team-building work environment DELI ASSISTANTS WILL: Accurately execute all co-op recipes as ordered by shoppers or assigned by a supervisor Participate in preparing, packaging, labeling, and merchandising prepared foods Properly label, store, and rotate all deli product Participate in dishwashing Safely and properly operate and maintain all kitchen equipment Receive and store product orders as directed Maintain a fully stocked and clean department Responsibly fulfill all food safety and health code requirements Complete tasks as assigned by the deli leads and deli management THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS: Passion for food, natural foods, and co-ops Exceptional customer service skills The ability to balance multiple priorities Attention to detail Self-motivation; comfortable taking initiative and prioritizing tasks Desire to grow skills and knowledge Weekend and evening availability The ability to work with limited and no supervision PHYSICAL DEMANDS Standing, bending, stooping, reaching, squatting, and walking for extended periods of time per shift Repetitive bending and lifting of loads, not to exceed 50 pounds Environmental exposure to extreme temperatures (coolers, ovens, freezer, outdoors, etc.) Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation Important Notice: The job duties, elements, responsibilities, skills, functions, experience, educational factors, and the requirements and conditions listed in this job description are representative only and not exhaustive of the tasks that an employee may be required to perform.
