Northrop Grumman is seeking a Database Engineer (DBE) in support of the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. NASIC is responsible for creating all-source intelligence defining the present and future air, air defense, cyber , space and ballistic missile threats to enable military operations, force modernization, and policy making. This DBE will be an active part of a team of Database Engineers/Administrators who will share in the administration of Neo4j, Oracle, MariaDB/MySQL, MongoDB, etc. This candidate will take lead on Neo4j / Graph Database Engineering activities and provide general support for the other databases. This environment includes ever growing opportunities with modernization such as Cloud technologies and DevOps CI/CD pipelines. Development of containerization and Kubernetes skillsets will be critical as the NASIC Database architecture continues its Digital Transformation efforts. This candidate will be planned to support a production environment on site at NASIC/WPAFB once properly cleared to support mission critical needs.
This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.
Basic Qualifications For a Database Engineer
  • Minimum of two years of experience with Database Engineering / Administration
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math discipline with 2 Years related experience
  • Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math discipline with 0 Year related experience
  • Able to obtain Neo4j certification within 90 days
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent with 6 Years relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
  • One of the following:
  • Able to obtain IAT Level II certification such as CASP+ or Security+ within 90 days
  • U.S. citizenship with ability to get a TS/SCI security clearance
Basic Qualifications for a Principal Database Engineer:
  • Minimum of five years of experience with Database Engineering / Administration
  • Able to obtain IAT Level II certification such as CASP+ or Security+ within 90 days
  • Able to obtain Neo4j certification within 90 days
  • One of the following:
  • U.S. citizenship with ability to get a TS/SCI security clearance
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent with 9 Years relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math discipline with 5 Years related experience
  • Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math discipline with 3 Year related experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with scripting using tools such as Bash, Python, Perl, PowerShell, etc.
  • Experience with DevOps architecture such as Kubernetes, Nexus, Harbor, Docker, GitLab, etc.
  • Active Department of Defense Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information security clearance
  • Experience with Oracle, MariaDB/MySQL, or MongoDB Database administration
  • Active CompTIA CASP+ or Security+ certification
  • Neo4j or other graph database administration experience
  • Candidate must demonstrate strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with Apache, NGINX, or JBoss Server administration
This position reports to Beavercreek, OH, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Wright-Patterson AFB, OH, OH, USA.
Salary Range: $77,200 USD - $115,800 USD
Salary Range 2: $95,100 USD - $142,700 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
