Job Description

CMI Media Group and Compas is currently looking for a Database Administrator to join their team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure all database servers are backed up in a way that meets the business’s Recovery Point Objectives (RPO).
  • The Database Administrator is responsible maintaining systems, tuning, aiding in design and solving database issues for systems running on MS SQL Server , Postgresql, and Redshift
  • Experience setting up backups and recovery scripts
  • Ability to create stored procedures to facilitate processing and maintenance
  • Document the company’s database environment
  • When performance issues arise, determine the most effective way to increase performance including hardware purchases, server configuration changes, or index/query changes
  • Configure SQL Server monitoring utilities
  • Understanding of tuning
  • Deploy database change scripts

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in database backup, recovery, maintenance, security, automation, and integration tools
  • Strong knowledge of database System Internals and an understanding of the interaction of the DBMS with the Operating System on which it resides
  • Knowledge of DBMS Data Warehouse functionalities and design concepts
  • Proficiency with database design concepts with proven experience participating in and sometimes leading database design efforts
  • Ability to participate in the analysis of historical information captured from monitoring tools in order to diagnose reported problems
  • 3+ years of experience as a Database Administrator in MS SQL Server or Postgresql
  • Ability to participate in the creation and review of existing designs and provide design alternatives and best practices for database performance and scalability
  • Familiarity with DB implementation in cloud-based technologies is required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an appropriate equivalent is required
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues, find root cause and suggest solutions independently
  • Familiarity with AWS and Redshift is preferred
