Database Administrator I (#010232) System Development/Support, Columbia (Richland)

Job Responsibilities

Under Supervision,

• Document systems and database procedures.
• Investigates and resolves related system software: monitors system performance and tunes the environment to optimize cost and throughput.
• Provides technical assistance to the application staff as needed.
• Manage security catalogs on multiple platforms.
• Assist the application with database design and troubleshooting.
• Reviews, evaluates, and performs upgrades of operating systems, databases, and other system software.
• Administration of physical and logical database components.
• Administration and evaluation of database data and capacities.
• Refine and improve processes for replication and synchronization between databases.
• Perform research on database costs and other metrics as requested by management.
• Offers technical assistance in the development of a distributed environment.

Minimum And Additional Requirements
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A High School diploma and work experience in systems development and maintenance, technical support, or the support of database management systems. A bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience.
SCDC Minimum Requirements
(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).

OR

• A bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications
A bachelor's degree or an associate's degree plus two (2) years in computer science, information systems or a related field preferred.
