Database Administrator (Hybrid, Software Developer III)

This individual will serve as a programmer and a user consultant for our Linux, Unix and Macintosh platforms.

The primary responsibility will be writing web-based programs on Linux using HTML and PHP and interfacing with MySQL and PostgreSQL databases that interact with users via the Apache web server. Other programming projects will involve Python, Perl, C, C++, Ajax, XML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Other responsibilities include writing shell scripts, installing and maintaining Linux, Unix and Macintosh systems and consulting to faculty, staff and students on the use of those systems.

This individual will be required to be flexible in working on multiple projects and prioritizing that work along with the need to solve immediate problems.

The successful applicant will have a working knowledge of project management techniques, good interpersonal communication, good web design, good programming practices and well-organized software development habits.

Familiarity with iOS, Android, CUDA, and OpenAFS are a plus.
