Data Scientist Jobs

DUTIES: Hearst Magazine Media, Inc. seeks Data Scientist in New York, NY to develop Machine Learning or Statistical Models and Algorithms. Work with business units to translate business problems to actionable tools, insights and models. Understand and work with extract, transform, and load processes to transform data to a form that is usable by models leveraging Relational databases, Document Databases, Key-Value DBS, and Timeseries databases. Build automated analytics reporting in response to needs from stakeholders across the Hearst businesses. Experiment with emerging technologies related to Big Data initiatives for the Hearst Data Warehouse platform. Take the ownership of the various components of Data Science Life cycle such as Data Wrangling, Feature Engineering, Data Visualization -discovery, Model Generation.

REQUIREMENTS : Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Business Intelligence and Analytics, Statistics, or related field and three (3) years of experience in job offered or related field: leveraging experience in data engineering with large datasets and backend engineering; using AWS (EC2, EMR, RDS), PostgreSQL, MongoDB; using database modeling and designing data structures and database schemas; utilizing proficiency in database performance analysis and tuning; answering analytical questions by data wrangling; understanding best practices and methods for quantitative and qualitative testing; building, integrating, and maintaining data pipelines and machine learning models; utilizing SQL; understanding internals of database and storage systems; utilizing at least one of the following: Python, Ruby, Perl, R, or Matlab; and using statistical models and analysis methods. In the alternative, the business will accept a Master’s degree in one of the above listed fields and one (1) year of experience in the above-listed skills. Telecommuting and/or working from home may be permissible pursuant to company policies. When not telecommuting, must report to work site. Offered salary is between $120,000 and $140,000 a year. 40 hrs/wk.
