Data Scientist - Financial Data

Outstanding contract consulting (potentially fulltime role) opportunity in the financial services space. We are looking for a data scientist that has experience working with financial market data, large language models and has experience with scripting languages like Python. Ideally West Coast base with occasional need to be on site in the San Francisco office.

Responsibilities

- Work with Analysts and investment professionals to clearly define problem statements, build solutions or find data insights quickly.

- Built applications that the investment research team can use to identify sentiment, data insights using structured and unstructured data.

- Identify new tools, and solutions needed to serve our investment community.

- Work with large language models and tune them to meet our internal needs.

- Aggregate structured and unstructured datasets in finding answers to questions

- Stay abreast of the vendor ecosystem and integrate some of the vendor solutions to meet our needs quickly.

- Work within the software development guidelines.

- Manage software release cycle following the DevSecOps model.

Skills

- 7 or more years of experience with Python and other scripting languages

- Experience with financial market datasets and sources – cleaning/ merging with other datasets

- Exposure and/or experience in AL/ML toolset and models, recent advancements in Generative AI is preferable

- Good communication skills along with inter-personal skills to connect with investment professionals

- Azure experience is a nice to have. Other Cloud experience will work
