Position Summary
This position includes five major roles, itemized below:
  • Process automation (computer programming course work or professional experience required; Selenium and Microsoft Power Automate preferred)
  • Data storyteller (exceptional written and verbal communication required; statistics course work or professional experience preferred)
  • Software engineer (computer programming course work or professional experience required; experience with Microsoft Azure for designing and maintaining processes and pipelines is strongly preferred)
  • Data visualization (computer programming and statistics course work or professional experience required; Python experience strongly preferred)
  • Programmer/Algorithm development (computer programming course work required; Python experience strongly preferred)
Note that depending on skills and strengths of all final hires, applicants may end up focusing on one of the above, or have responsibilities across multiple roles for which they are qualified; therefore, skill, interest, and willingness to perform multiple such roles is also strongly preferred.
Additionally, those hired may have opportunities to apply AI/ML or other problem-solving techniques to address data science needs of constituents, and to serve as project managers.

Works with assigned departments/projects, including the STEM Center, performing:
  • Oral/Written Communication: internal communications within data team; external communications with partner departments
  • Career management: gain proficiency in software and practices common in the professional data sector
  • Leadership: may lead data team projects and coordinate efforts of others
  • Critical Thinking/Problem Solving: address data issues and propose data-centric ideas related to management, consistency, relationships, and sources(major aspect of position)
  • Teamwork/Collaboration: Self-driven in coordinating efforts with other student employees to meet specific data needs of departments/projects and Director(major aspect of position)
  • Professionalism/Work Ethic: self-manage efforts to perform highly accurate data entry and validate data sets for accuracy
  • Digital Technology: regular complex data-centric tasks with Python, Microsoft software, or other technological tools within scope of position (major aspect of position)
  • Global/Intercultural Fluency: should expect to work closely with student employees from different nationalities and backgrounds
