Overview:


The CDC Foundation is seeking a Data Quality Team Lead who will organize and administer data quality improvement efforts for the Illinois Department of Public Health's (IDPH) Immunization Section’s statewide Immunization Information System (IIS). This individual will work with a diverse group of internal and external partners and stakeholders to lead the coordination of both corrective and preventative data quality interventions on incoming and existing data in the IIS, with the goal of improving and assuring IIS data quality.


Qualifications:


  • 1+ years of experience in project planning and management
  • Strong knowledge of immunization practices, vaccine schedules, and immunization data standards. Familiarity with immunization information systems (IIS) or electronic health records (EHR) systems used for immunization data management
  • Proficiency in data management and analysis, including data validation, data cleaning, and data quality control processes. Familiarity with data management software or tools commonly used in public health settings is desirable
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a health science, behavioral science, or closely related field applicable to the program area and
  • 2+ years of health-related experience including researching, collecting, and analyzing data and statistics, developing objectives, protocols, and procedures, providing health education services to target groups or the general public, and/or investigation and prevention of communicable or chronic diseases
  • Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local regulations, guidelines, and reporting requirements related to immunization data. This includes compliance with data privacy and security regulations (e.g., HIPAA)


Responsibilities:


  • Provide direction to a team of three (3) to execute data quality assessment and improvement activities
  • Propose and execute data analysis (with regard to data quality aspects)
  • Engage and coordinate with numerous partners, including medical providers and other IIS stakeholders, as well as the Immunization Section and other Division/Department staff
  • Schedule and lead meetings as needed to meet data quality improvement needs
  • Maintain appropriate data governance including identifying areas where data integrity is insufficient and developing countermeasures to proactively address existing data problems including process-based solutions to support ongoing data quality
  • Recommend actions to improve data quality and streamline operational processes
  • Investigate and resolve data quality issues identified by Illinois Immunization Section staff
  • Ensure compliance with relevant federal, state, and local regulations, guidelines, and reporting requirements related to immunization data. This includes adherence to data privacy and security regulations (e.g., HIPAA)
  • Develop and implement methods to measure and demonstrate data quality intervention results
  • Develop, implement and maintain/update written data quality protocols and procedures
  • Lead and coordinate assessment of Illinois’ IIS data quality (including, but not limited to accuracy, timeliness, and completeness)

This role is involved in a dynamic public health program. As such, roles and responsibilities are subject to change as situations evolve. Roles and responsibilities listed above may be expanded upon or updated to match priorities and needs, once written approval is received by both the CDC Foundation and Illinois Department of Public Health, in order to best support the State of Illinois in their public health programming.


This position is currently a remote position. CDC Foundation retains the right to make adjustments to this as required.
