Job Description

As a Data Operations Associate, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a team responsible for generating and delivering industry leading risk metrics to a variety of products offered by Moody’s Analytics. You may perform a variety of different data management job functions, including data acquisition, data processing, data inquiry, model calculation, etc. This position involves a blend of technical skills and qualitative/quantitative financial data analysis to source and maintain credit risk data and models. This position is for you, if you are a quick learner, have a passion for data to understand model, uncover data patterns, fulfill data request, identify data issues, and solve problems.

The Corporate Credit Data group is responsible for managing the critical processes that ensure the accuracy and timely delivery of vital financial data that is linked to our industry-standard credit risk measurement tools and related software applications. This role will facilitate that process, working with the engineering, IT, support, and development teams to ensure the timely and seamless delivery of data to clients. Additionally, the role is responsible for gathering and inputting financial data from clients into the company’s credit risk measurement tools and software, as well as running the data processing and calculations that feed the company’s credit risk measurement and management products.

Responsibilities:

  • Work side-by-side with Data Analysts and Engineers for data troubleshooting and data delivery.
  • Coordinate closely with Product, Client Support, Research, SDE, and DevOps, for new product and feature release, enhancement, data request, and new model development.
  • Produce data visualizations to using data intelligence tools that describe data characteristics.
  • Monitor and manage data pipelines components in model calculation and data distribution process. Effectively troubleshoot and fix technical issues and data issues to meet data delivery deadlines.
  • Define/cleanse/standardize data mapping and data model from multiple data vendor sources into a centralized database or for internal/external data requests.
  • Resolve data inquiries/issues, fulfill data requests for internal and external clients with accuracy and in a timely manner.
  • Identify data pipeline inefficiency; improve and refine data logic, code efficiency, and conduct automation.
  • Contribute towards documentation of business-as-usual activities and projects as they near completion.


  • Graduate degree and/or 1-2 years of work experience is a plus.
  • Great attention to detail
  • Requires Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Engineering, Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Finance or a related field.
  • Strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple urgent data inquiries with tight deadlines
  • Superb analytical skills, persistence in problem solving, and ability to learn quickly and independently
  • Extraordinary written and oral communication skills
  • Must have experience with database management system (e.g. Postgres, MS SQL Server, etc)
  • Experience with one cloud platform (AWS is preferred)
  • Must be proficiency in SQL
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially MS Excel
  • Must have experience with one scripting language (Python is preferred)
  • Experience with data pipelines (e.g. CloverETL, Airflow, MS SSIS, AWS Glue/Step function)
  • Exposure to financial services space and experience with financial data feeds, with good understanding of Finance concepts


Preferred:

  • Exposure to third-party BI Tools: Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, etc
  • Experience in data modeling and data algorithm
  • Experience with data mining tasks
  • Experience with one statistical package (R is preferred)
  • Experience with batch scripts, shell scripts, HTML, XML
  • Exposure to Java, C#, etc

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $64,600 to $117,100, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody’s also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
