U.S Bank has been on a several year journey to build a world-class Data Governance organization, as we recognize the critical importance that data plays in the future of the Bank. To lead this journey in Enterprise Data Governance, we have created a Data Governance Lead position. This individual will partner closely with Risk, Enterprise Analytics, Marketing, Digital, and Technology teams to create data solutions that enables them to deliver on their strategies. The Data Governance Lead will report to the Head of Data Governance & Testing and will have full accountability of scaling up our data quality and independent second line of defense credible challenge for regulatory reporting and data quality.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Provide second line of defense credible challenge to all regulatory reporting within the bank.
  • Roll out of a data governance tool for visualization of data lineage for all key business elements.
  • Develop threshold and tiering system for regular testing of regulatory reports.
  • Support business teams to implement the Enterprise Data Governance Policy including data priorities.
  • Lead the implementation of the next generation Enterprise Data Governance tools program which includes data catalog, data quality and data discovery tools.
  • See opportunities where others see challenges in terms of the breadth and variety of use cases. Develop and lead data product discovery with a strong focus on value generation, creating approaches that enable data scientists to explore applications of data to customer problems, identifying new product and business opportunities in conjunction with business functions.
  • Drive the execution of data governance strategies with stakeholders, chairing governance meetings, writing data policies and procedures.
  • Partner with Finance teams to integrate data governance into the next generation G/L implementation.
  • Incorporate regulatory standards and industry best practices to ensure they are designing for privacy and operationalizing the high bar for privacy and consumer control that US Bank maintains. Manage and oversee risk and controls for Cloud data product solutions.
  • Actively participate in recruiting, development and retention of top-quality talent
  • Develop the organization that can offer direction, communication and support to the business lines Data Governance groups as they mature their data quality capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or other related field
  • Typically 10+ years of banking or other relevant work experience

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • 7+ years of management experience
  • Exceptional analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills with ability to understand the big picture and details of applications
  • Deep understanding of the complexities of customer data in a large financial institution
  • A strong understanding of Agile development methodologies (a passion for driving Agile is a plus) and process management discipline (e.g. six sigma, LEAN, other)
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate to different stakeholders
  • Deep understanding of Private and Public Cloud Architectures
  • Collaborative and non-hierarchical leadership style, comfortable at influencing without authority
  • Strategist with deep and broad knowledge of information systems technology, especially digital systems and data products.
  • Exceptional leadership abilities and strategic management skills with considerable tact, diplomacy and people skills
  • Demonstrated success in high quality execution of large scale operational initiatives and related Risk and technology programs
  • Experience with implementing tools for analyzing and governing very large data sets

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, US Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401k contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $140,930.00 - $165,800.00 - $182,380.00
