Data entry specialists are in charge of typing or using electronic interfaces to enter patient, client, and billing information into the billing system. This process must be accurate because it is the foundation upon which all other processes are built.

Duties & Responsibilities

Entering appropriate patient information, such as patient demographics, insurance information, and diagnosis codes, and submitting a clean and accurate claim.

Responsible for identifying diagnosis narrative, no diagnosis provided, and lacking information, as well as applying edits to the document.

Responsible for working eligibility adjustments and correcting patient and payer information according to the insurance eligibility of the patient.

Accountable for completing designated edits on the edit report and following up on anything older than two weeks.

Prior to sending the Missing Information Letter to the client, this individual is responsible for ensuring the veracity of the Missing Information edits.

Responsible for inputting Missing Information responses received from clients and clearing claims for billing.

Cross-training in customer service entails answering calls from consumers and assisting them as necessary.

Education And Knowledge

Graduate of high school or its equivalent

Capability to type 55 words per minute

Work autonomously and be self-driven

Experience In Medical Billing Is Useful But Not Required

Prior knowledge of ICD-10 is beneficial but not required

Daily adaptability to a high-pressure environment Capability to plan and prioritize work
