Data Analyst

M Science is looking for an experienced data analyst interested in leveraging our market leading breadth of alternative data to derive insight products. The data analyst will work within a specialized data team and work to create data intelligence for internal and external customers, as well as work on individual projects and product creation. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of data and its application to the evaluation of company/industry performance metrics.

Responsibilities:

• Respond to requests for data and analysis
• Collaborate with research analyst to conduct data analysis for company-specific and industry-wide research
• Build customized analysis and data visualizations that incorporate internal and external data
• Evaluate client results and competitive developments and provide suggestions for new data services
• Assist in analyzing financial datasets and/or alternative datasets
• Interpret and evaluate research data and develop integrated business analyses for relevant industry vertical
• Create reports and present findings regarding alternative dataset management to internal stakeholders

Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience/desire working with both unstructured and structured data
• Creative problem solver mindset around using data
• Data analysis experience using Python, SQL, R, or equivalent is preferred
• Interest in financial services with demonstrable strength in financial data analysis, equity research
• Excellent problem solving and communication skills
• Four-year degree in mathematics, statistics, engineering, computer science, or related field required. Post-graduate degree such as data science or computer science is helpful
• Self-starter who works well in a fast paced environment
• Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms
