Job Description

Essential qualifications: B.A. or B.F.A. in Dance (or related field), minimum of one year of teaching ballet, modern, jazz and/or tap technique courses, or equivalent professional dance studio teaching experience.

Preferred qualifications: A minimum of two years college/university teaching ballet, modern jazz and/or tap dance technique classes, or two years of professional dance studio teaching. Evidence of effective teaching and communication skills is required.

The University of Minnesota Duluth is seeking a pool of part-time temporary instructors/assistant professors of dance for Fall 2023 (8/24/23 - 1/6/24) and/or Spring 2024 (1/4/24 - 5/19/24). Duties of this position are to teach any and/or all levels of ballet, modern, tap and/or jazz technique classes.


UMD is the second largest campus of the University of Minnesota system. The Department of Theatre, within the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, offers the B.F.A. in Theatre with emphases in Musical Theatre, Acting, Design/Technical Theatre and Stage Management and a B.A. Degree in Theatre. In addition, the department supports a large dance minor, as well as theatre and film studies minors.
