Job Description

Summary:

As a member of Objective Area Solutions' (OAS) growing team, we are looking for a Cybersecurity Engineer to support our FAA client.

Position Functions & Skills:

Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE)

The Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the LOB or SO operated system. ISSE personnel conduct information system security engineering activities (e.g., capturing and refining information security requirements and ensuring that the requirements are effectively integrated into information technology component products and information systems through purposeful security architecting, design, development, configuration, and implementation.)

The ISSE responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Coordinating with the NDP system owner to perform security authorization and continuous monitoring activities:

  • Designing and ensuring approved system changes are implemented and documented.
  • Providing recommendation in describing the information system, its functions, and information types.
  • Preparing and submitting security status reports as required by FAA security officials.
  • Conducting security assessments of security controls according to their continuous monitoring strategies.
  • Coordinating and approving system changes.
  • Ensuring security controls (or compensating security controls) are implemented for each security requirement within the System Security Plan (SSP).
  • Validating and reviewing security controls to ensure the security controls satisfy the corresponding security requirements.
  • Providing recommendation on the impacts of system changes to the security of the system
  • Assisting in the development and documentation of the continuous monitoring strategy for their information systems.
  • Conducting security impact analyses on all changes to the information system.
  • Assisting in tailoring the security controls.
  • Providing recommendation and implementation of the continuous monitoring of the information system
  • Reviewing the adequacy of the security controls and their ability to protect the information system and its information.
  • Providing recommendation in establishing or validating the system boundary.
  • Participating in the configuration management process.
  • Providing recommendation in describing the system and its functions, information types, operating environments, and security requirements.
  • Assisting in determining the assurance measures that can be used to meet the minimum assurance requirements.

Providing recommendations on implementation, testing, performance, and verification plans.

Implement system safeguards, monitoring, and alerting measures to satisfy the system security requirements.

Required Education, Skills & Capabilities:

  • Strong verbal and written communications
  • BS in technical field
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills
  • 10+ years of experience
