The Maine State Ferry Service is seeking an Intermittent Customer Service professional to work in North Haven, Maine.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
Provide excellent customer service, in every situation - understand, communicate, and uphold security and operational procedures for customers and all types of vehicles. Use current software, sell tickets, and collect appropriate fares in accordance with the published tariff for persons and vehicles using MSFS vessels and/or parking facilities. Perform daily accounting functions, prepare shift activity/ cash report, deposit daily monetary receipts. Provide schedule, fare, and other information to the public in person and over the telephone. As a Line attendant, assist vessel crews in managing vehicle queues, check and collect tickets, enforce line up procedures, direct traffic and provide information/direction to passengers and the public as necessary. Maintain interior/exterior of terminal building, perform opening/closing duties including securing the building and office, confirming cleanliness of lobby, public restrooms, and lighting. Perform security functions per the Maritime Transportation Security Act.
To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:
A Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a solid knowledge of the principles and practices of quality customer service to perform complex work in assisting the public on matters such as communication transmissions, employment, ferry, social, or public services; and 2) ability to use independent judgment in handling exceptions to established work assignments, priorities, and schedules. All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of: Customer Representative Assistant I and Customer Representative Assistant II.
