Custodian/Day Porter Jobs

REPORTS TO: Facility’s Coordinator

STATUS: Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY: Under supervision of the Facility’s Coordinator, the Custodian is responsible for performing cleaning and minor maintenance tasks to ensure that the building and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe, and sanitary manner. Ensuring all services are provided consistently with REN’s philosophy and values; performs related duties as required.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

• Clean by dusting, mopping, washing, vacuuming, polishing, brushing, disinfecting, or scrubbing all surfaces of furniture, furnishings, floors, walls and any other surfaces.
• Request and store cleaning supplies and materials and provide routine maintenance on cleaning tools and equipment.
• Provide support to, and work with, other staff.
• Perform other related duties as required.
• Clean and maintain wax and polish finishes on floors; refinish floors, as required.
• Report any repairs needed to furniture, fixtures, or facilities.
• Store cleaning equipment and supplies in a safe and orderly manner
• Ensure all doors in assigned work area are locked at the completion of shift.
• Restock supplies where necessary.
• Clear and clean waste containers and dispose of refuse and recyclables.
• Move furniture and equipment as requested by the Facility’s Coordinator.

• Possess effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to address all community members in a courteous and respectful manner.

• Ability to operate a motor vehicle and load supplies and other miscellaneous inventory.
• Have a demonstrated strong work ethic; ability to work efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision.

Education/License/Certification/Experience Requirements

• A High School Diploma/GED or higher
• 1+ years Full-Time experience in Facilities and Janitorial
• Tuberculosis test (Ability to pass)
• Must be 21 years of age
• A current Arizona Driver License and a current satisfactory 39-month Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

Physical And Mental Requirements And Workplace Environment Conditions

• Position requires good manual dexterity
• Some assignments require the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
• The ability to stand, sit or walk are a period of time.
• Ability to adequately read correspondence, computer screen, forms, etc.
• Ability to lift 25 – 30 pounds.
• Ability to communicate effectively by phone, in person at normal volumes.
