Custodian (Medical Professions At Olmito)

Follow routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to maintain a high standard of safety.

• Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school policies and regulations concerning primary job functions.
• Develop and maintain a cleaning schedule that will include the cleaning of floors, chalkboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Maintain a program of preventive maintenance to ensure the comfort, health, and safety of students and staff.
• Ensure that the school building and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play areas are neat and clean.
• Establish procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities.
• Enforce compliance with occupations health and safety codes and standards.
• Move furniture or equipment within the building as directed by the principal.
• Make minor building repairs for safety and efficiency.
• Assume the responsibility for opening and closing the building each school day.
• Resolve conflict or confrontation between students and report disturbances to principal or assistant principal.
• Inform supervisor and/or proper authorities of any safety hazards.
• Comply with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash.
• Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency.
• Check daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.
• Wears Support Work Belt during pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying of equipment.
• Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and order additional supplies as needed.
• Demonstrate support for the district's student management policies and expected student behavior during non-instructional periods, vehicle operation, and parking.

Minimum Education/Certification:
Ability to read and understand verbal instructions in English
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of basic techniques of minor repairs and building and ground maintenance
Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment
Properly handle cleaning supplies.

Uses buffer, stripper, wet and dry vacuum cleaner, electric drill, shampooer, lawn mower, edger and weed eater
