Position Title Custodian

Position Number 998923\ Position Status Full-Time\ Regular Work Hours M - F, 3:00pm to 11:30pm\ Location Wichita, KS - WSU Main Campus

Position Specific Responsibilities The position of Custodian is responsible for completing cleaning and stocking duties in assigned areas and may require the operation of technical equipment. Promotes Green cleaning and maintenance in day-to-day tasks and practices to advance healthier work environments. Summary of Responsibilities Performs routine manual work in cleaning, servicing, and stocking supplies in University buildings.

Essential Functions

• Sweeps, mops, and buffs and sprays buff floors and vacuums rugs and carpets in assigned area as needed.
• Washes windows, walls, and other assigned areas. Picks up trash, empties garbage containers, and removes all trash to area for disposal.
• Cleans and services assigned areas in University buildings and maintains sufficient stock and supplies for the proper performance of these duties.
• Cleans rest rooms, offices, and replenishes supplies.
• Shovels and removes snow and ice from designated areas such as roofs, sidewalks and entryways as required.

Requirements:\ Minimum Education None\ Preferred Education High School diploma or equivalent

Minimum Experience None\ Preferred Experience One year of experience in the custodial or service industry using vacuum, dust mops, brooms, and any floor machines.\ One year experience maintaining finishes of floors.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
• Ability to understand and follow explicit instructions, both in oral and written form.
• Ability to learn the operation and care of equipment, including, but not limited to: vacuum cleaners, scrubbing machines, polishing machines, and other janitorial equipment.
• Ability and willingness to perform any of a variety of routine cleaning tasks.
• Ability to work effectively with fellow workers and others.
