JOB SUMMARY

Cleans & maintains buildings, grounds & property(ies) in “like-new” condition at all times.


Show up to work on time; do the job you were hired to do; go home.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

st Job Task Priorities:

  • Responsible for maintaining SUPERIOR CUSTOMER SERVICE at all times and especially when working in the main guest areas.
  • To provide clean showers and restrooms in “like new” condition for guests in a timely manner; and empty and maintain garbage cans inside and outside of main building.
  • Respond to guest requests in a friendly and courteous manner, finding someone to assist them if you cannot.

  • Follow Customer Service guidelines as outlined by company and department.
  • Use down time productively by cleaning work area, restocking and sweeping floors.


Indoor Job Tasks

  • Wash linens using washing machines and dryers.
  • Wash walls, ceiling, and woodwork including windows, door panels, and sills.
  • Empty and clean indoor and outdoor wastebaskets and ashtrays.
  • Sort, iron, count, fold, mark linens as needed.
  • Sweep scrub stairways.
  • Clean rugs, carpets, and upholstered furniture as needed or assigned.
  • Replace light bulbs as needed.
  • Clean showers (including shower stall, toilet, sink, walls & floor) in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Clean restrooms (public & associate), showers, corridors, stairways, and other areas in building(s) as assigned.
  • Detail clean assigned shower(s) or other areas weekly.
  • Sweep, scrub, wax, and polish floors as needed or assigned.
  • Clean and polish windows, doors and mirrors as needed or assigned.
  • Replenish restroom, shower, and other room supplies.
  • Dust furniture and fixtures as needed.
  • Transport trash and waste to disposal areas.

  • Safely use cleaning chemicals, carefully following directions for usage.
  • Submit item(s) left by guests to Lost and Found Department in Retail kiosk.
  • Operate and clean custodial cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaner, floor scrubber, pressure washer, carpet shampooer, etc.
  • Keep all work areas clean and sanitized.
  • Clean exterior doors and windows.

  • Sweep and mop floors as needed or assigned. Take care of emergency spills immediately using wet floor signs.

Outdoors

  • Check sidewalks and parking lot on regular basis in winter season for ice.
  • Empty and clean indoor and outdoor wastebaskets and ashtrays.
  • Regularly salt and shovel sidewalks and other walking areas as needed.
  • Transport trash and waste to disposal areas.

  • Clean gas pumps and gas pump area removing trash as needed and replenishing stock such as towels, etc.

  • Sweep and scrub sidewalks and stairways. Sweep and shovel snow and ice from sidewalks and stair/walk ways. Apply ice melting compound and/or sand to exterior walking surfaces as needed.

Safety

  • Safely use cleaning chemicals, carefully following directions for usage.
  • Keep all work areas clean and sanitized.
  • Practice and maintain a safe work environment around all areas of restrooms, showers, hallways, walkways, etc. including use of wet floor signs and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Properly use and maintain appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for work tasks.


Communication

  • Work and communicate cooperatively within team unit and overall department team. Minimize participation of non work-related distractions that prevent work tasks from being accomplished.

  • Communicate regularly with Custodian Manager and other custodial coworkers.
  • Notify Custodial Manager when salt bin inventory is getting low.

  • Report damaged furniture, equipment, fixtures, etc to Manager or other appropriate person(s).
  • Report all incidents, injuries and safety hazards immediately to Custodial Manager no matter how small it may seem.

  • Communicate with coworkers and other company staff regarding cleaning schedule, etc.

  • Avoid talking about coworkers in any department about other coworkers.

Teamwork

  • Assist helping other custodians and training new custodian associates as needed- setting the example for teamwork.

  • Participate in company sponsored Team Player training.


Misc.

  • Responsible for reading and abiding by the Associate Handbook.
  • Maintain a clean and neat appearance as outlined in the Associate Handbook.

  • Other duties as assigned.


SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

There are no supervisory responsibilities for this job.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or general education degree (GED). Experience in custodian work preferred.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSING, REGISTRATIONS

Company provided Underground Storage Tank (UST) training required upon hire and thereafter annually.
