As a Custodian and public health employee, you will serve an active role in improving the health of your community. As part of a small, but mighty team, you will perform heavy-duty cleaning and related maintenance work within all SWDH owned, leased, and maintained facilities.


This position may include a teleworking option from within Idaho.

Our generous benefits package increases the total compensation investment of a full-time Custodian making $16.57 - $19.49/hour to an estimated $26.87 - $30.44/hour.


This position may be eligible for a $250 Retention Bonus upon successful completion of six months entrance probation and an additional $500 Retention Bonus upon completion of twelve months of employment.


Typical Duties


Candidates must be able to complete the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation and meet all the mandatory qualifications of the position.
  • Remove waste and debris from inside and outside of SWDH facilities. Includes emptying trash, applying weed control, trimming bushes, and trees, etc.
  • Make on-site visits to all SWDH facilities at least monthly to assess maintenance needs and coordinate repair and maintenance needs with supervisor.
  • Set up and tear down tables and chairs used for meetings and events.
  • Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all chemicals stored or used in SWDH facilities.
  • Order and inventory products and compounds for cleaning jobs, mix compounds, disinfectants and sanitizing agents and apply according to manufacturer’s specifications for all SWDH facilities.
  • Replace HVAC filters, light bulbs, and clean covers on light fixtures.
  • Inspect fire extinguishers monthly at all SWDH facilities.
  • Perform heavy duty cleaning in all examination rooms, clinic areas, waiting rooms, employee break room, all common areas, and restrooms, including mopping, sweeping, and vacuuming.
  • Maintain all soap and sanitizer dispensers to ensure they are full, functioning, and operational.
  • Shovel snow from SWDH walkways, apply deicer as needed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on cleaning equipment.
  • Move furniture, appliances, and other heavy items.
  • Use minor hand tools such as drills, screwdrivers, hammers, and ladders for minor repair and maintenance projects.
  • Wash windows inside and outside, dust common spaces and office jams.
  • Operate commercial equipment for scrubbing, buffing, shampooing, vacuuming, hand carts, snow blowers, ice melt, and pressure washers.

Minimum Qualifications (MQ)


Willingness to:
  • Repairing the equipment and related devices you operate
  • Moving heavy items such as tables, chairs, and bleachers
  • Cleaning restrooms, bath facilities, locker rooms, swimming pools, and similar facilities
  • Perform duties associated with commercial cleaning, including operating industrial-type cleaning equipment such as high-speed buffers and vacuum cleaners


MQ Specialty :
  • Valid Driver’s License


Ideal Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities :
  • Able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers regarding their needs.
  • Ability to manage one’s time
