Job Description

Pay Grade/Pay Range: MPP Maintenance Pay Plan

Department/Organization: 504191 - Housing Custodial

Normal Work Schedule: 4am-12:30pm, 7am-3:30pm, 3:30-midnight

Job Summary: The Custodial Services Team Leader provides work leadership to team members in addition to performing day-to-day assigned custodial duties. Drives from site to site. Performs some supervisory functions in the absence of the Supervisor.

Additional Department Summary: Must drive from site to site.

Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent with the demonstrated ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions and three (3) years custodial experience, preferably in an institutional setting. Must be able to work autonomously. Must be able to lift, handle and maneuver the tools, materials and supplies of the job. Must be able to climb stairs and carry at least 25 pounds. Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have ability to complete all tasks on custodian's building task lists, as well as all general cleaning; Provides quality customer service; Demonstrates caring behavior by utilizing positive interpersonal skills; Provides helpful and friendly assistance in a timely manner; Responds to inquires in a timely, efficient manner.

Must meet regular attendance requirements; Must work overtime as scheduled; Closely observes and adheres to all safety rules and regulations as listed on product and equipment labels and as directed by management; Leaves work site clean and orderly; Insures that all tools and equipment are cleaned and materials are secured; Must accomplish the essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodations, in a timely manner; Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Final candidates, who are not currently University of Alabama employees, must submit to and successfully pass a post offer drug test.

Preferred Qualifications: Prefer some supervisory/work leadership experience.
