Curator Jobs

LAC Federal is seeking a Museum Curator to provide physical maintenance and conservation for museum artifacts in numerous formats including paper, audiovisual media, and three-dimensional objects. The curator will assist the senior Museum Curator in developing treatment and storage plans for museum and archival collections. The Curator will assist in arranging and managing the storage space in accordance with best practices in museums. As needed, the Curator will provide support for research and reference services
Position Responsibilities:

• Physical processing of new acquisitions
• Maintenance of administrative record
• Planning and management of collection storage spaces
• Evaluating and recommending new hardware and software tools
• Development and implementation of conservation and treatment plans for processing museum and archival materials in a wide variety of formats including three-dimensional objects, paper, audiovisual formats
• Support for research and references services

Requirements

• At least three years of experience in the management of museum collections.
• Able to lift 30-pound boxes of archival material. Requires relevant professional archival experience
• Bachelor’s degree in history, museum studies or related field from an accredited institution.
• At least one year of experience accessioning, cataloging, and rehousing of three-dimensional objects.
• Master’s degree in museum studies is strongly preferred
